Trigun with my dad.....

So my dad and I have started watching Trigun together.

He really likes it, and is interested to see where it'll go.
He finds the characters and plot interesting, but finds the chibi/ overly goofy stuff kind of stupid.
We've only watched an episode and a half, so there's no telling if I'll be able to keep him interested, but this seems to be going pretty well.

My question is- Is there anything you're interested in that you try to share with your parents?
Also, are there any other shows we could watch together that he might like, based on his interest in Trigun?

Voltron and Thundercats were two shows that my dad and I would watch together all the time.

I managed to get my dad interested in Full Metal Alchemist, I have no idea how that happened, but he watches it and asks me if I watched the latest episode so we can talk about it.

Yeah, its on Netflix. The remix is basically all the episodes with updated visuals/sound. And the movie is great as well. I highly recommend both.

My step-dad likes animé, but my dad... doesn't hate it, but has no real interest.
Meh, I'll just get him old comics from time to time, does the job >.>
Can't really imagine my dad sitting down to watch FMA or NGE >.>

Trigun's pretty good.
Higurashi is also along the same lines of Trigun in terms of serious to funny moment ratio (if that makes any sense). The only difference is that Higurashi's serious moments are moments of maniacal laughter, murder, torture, and foreboding music. Although it might be a little more bizarre than Trigun.

It too is on Netflix, but it's not instant play.

My dad doesn't like movies in cinemas so much, so it used to be when I wanted to go it had to be with my mum, nowadays we just go and see movies together every so often as a sort ofnostalgic reminder. We saw all three Lord of the Rings movies in the week they opened in cinema, it was really nice.

My dad and I used to game back in the days of Tomb Raider and Crash Bandicoot as well, before he got really swamped with work and I started playing single-player only games. It's why I think he understands the phenomenon better than other parents I hear about. He still sometimes has reservations at some new games with the upgraded graphics and everything, but then I remind him that he thought the same about the shift from 2D to 3D.

And we are all very musical, so we play piano/guitar/sing a lot. We have a piano in our dining room and a lot of guitars, and we all know how to sing, so every so often we'll just gather (usually someone will have just been playing idly and the rest will join in)

Neither my mom nor my dad are very big movie watchers, but I used to watch a lot of different movies in the livingroom just to see what kind of response I could get from them.

We watched all the Lord of the Rings movies together, but that was mainly because my mom fell in love with the musical score.
