Yo ho ho.
The demo for Trine [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trine_(video_game)] was released on the 25th June, and I don't see any posts here with "Trine" in their title...
I'm a massive fan of co-op games. My brother loves his PS3 and I love PC gaming, and when I go back home every week or so we usually hit it up on Super Smash Bros Brawl or Kane & Lynch or any co-op game, really.
Obviously, we're bound to the same system and my brother can't use a mouse/keyboard, so whenever a co-op game comes out that utilizes gamepad controls, I grab it as soon as I can. I don't know about you, but I've always found that co-op games on the same console are great, Gears of War being a good example of that.
So yeah, Trine! For those that don't know, it's sort of a 3D puzzle/action game. You can play as three characters; a thief (with a bow), a wizard (who conjures boxes to jump on) and a knight (with a sword/shield). You're stuck on a 2D plane (can only move left or right), but I think it's very well done. It's sort of a mix of Mario with some combat and puzzle bits.
There are a few bugs here and there and getting the control system set up can be a little finicky, but I really enjoyed playing it with my brother. And it's pretty good for co-op too; you can switch character at any time and the characters work well with each other.
It's gonna be available on the PS3, Xbox 360 (download only, I think) and through Steam for PC users. The demo's up on Steam now if anyone wants to give it a try. I suggest trying it if you've got anyone to play it with. I think the full game is something like 7-9 hours long, which I think it pretty decent for a co-op game.
The demo's only short but the graphics are nice to look at and pretty smooth (PhysX is utilized all the way through), the gameplay is quite fun and the puzzles are entertaining. It even has a back-story, even if it's not brilliant. Voice acting was okay but nothing spectacular. But I honestly found it very fun, though I don't know how it'll fare in single-player after you've been playing it a while.
So yeah, your opinion? Anyone tried it? Good or bad?
