10. Like Callisto to a Star in Heaven - 5:25
11. Shogun - 11:53
Right, let's get this show on the road.
From the get go the album is off to a good start with the opening track Kirisute Gomen, it has elements of both The Crusades' opening track Ignition and the screaming and vocals of Ascendancy that make Trivium great to listen to. For this album they seem to have mixed the best of both worlds, melody mixed with metal, constantly switching between the two. That's by no means a bad thing but personally I was hoping for something more constantly metal throughout like with Ascendancy but what they offer here will do....for now
My favourite song on the album by far has got to be Down from the sky, for me this is a song that rings of the values that made Ascendancy such a good album and one(I'm sure)they strive to emulate in terms of sound. I'm not very good at describing how music sounds so this review isn't going to be very long but every track on this album is basically the melodic beats of The Crusade more refined and not so "mystical" coupled with the metal and screaming of Ascendancy.
Like I have said, it's not a bad thing, but in closing here's hoping they remove the sound of The Crusade from their next album and bring back the sound of Ascendancy but even more heavier and louder than before, I'll be one happy bunny if that happens
Shogun is a great album by it's own merits but compared with Ascendancy it's not the best that Trivium could do.
Best songs(imo):
Down from the Sky
Like Callisto to a Star in Heaven
Shogun
Trivium fans will no doubt be divided on this album but it is once again another solid effort from them and a great(If not somewhat long)listen, go out and buy it(I'm such a hypocrite lol), you won't regret it.
