You two are both mistaken. On the Escapist, it is the Goat who burns the troll.

Nah, that's just when they're kicked off the bridge. I mean, banned from the forum.

If you are looking for a youtube troll, as far as I can tell they are people who rant against people to piss them off and get a good laugh out of their victims over the top angst

In some ways arguments on topics can make peuple come to some sort of enlightenment from their false ideals.

(Trolls are my best friends.)

With regards to these forums, a troll is someone that purposely posts in order to invoke flaming from other users. Doesn't necessarily have to be the author of the thread.

A troll is a member of a race of fearsome creatures from Norse mythology. Originally more or less the Nordic equivalents of giants, although often smaller in size, the different depictions have come to range from the fiendish giants ? similar to the ogres of England (also called Trolls at times, see Troller's Gill) ? to a devious, more human-like folk of the wilderness, living underground in hills, caves or mounds. In the Faroe islands, Orkney and Shetland tales, trolls are called trows, adopted from the Norse language when these islands were settled by Vikings.

Nordic literature, art and music from the romantic era and onwards has adapted trolls in various manners ? often in the form of an aboriginal race, endowed with oversized ears and noses. From here, as well as from Scandinavian fairy tales such as Three Billy Goats Gruff, trolls have achieved international recognition, and in modern fantasy literature and role-playing games, trolls are featured to the extent of being stock characters.

Nassimov is the In-Troll lately. Check out his posts if you want a better understanding.
But to answer your question OP, a Troll is somebody who Spams, or just generally makes the forum a worse place because of their obnoxious behavior.
I personally hate them, but like I said, check out Nassimov if you want to know more.

I think trolls are great as I find the majority of them funny. I dont understand people who get pissed off at trolls, I mean, its the internet after all. Its not like its hard to ignore them or anything.

They live under bridges, scare kids, and kill squirrels.

Post articles on how to cook a goat and articles on best bridges to hide beneath?
That's how I picture them spending their time while they're not Goatsie-ing the /B/ forum.
Rules one and two.

They're creatures that work extremely well in the workshop but aren't that great at fighting.
I train them to level 10 anyway, because on many maps I rely on traps/doors to support my dungeon if no jewels are around.
Personally, I prefer Orcs, though, because they can build stuff almost as well, are better fighters and want very little pay.
I hope that helps.
Win.

Dungeon Keeper is amazing.

My definition of a troll extends to people that bump up incredibly old threads to get attention for a cause of epically moronic proportions.
