Anyone else plan on seeing this movie? I keep seeing previews for it, and I think it looks awesome. I saw the original and I loved it, seems like the type of movie that could use some modern CGI. A quick question though, is this movie a total remake of the original, or is it just a movie in the Tron universe? I might be remembering the original movie wrong, but I don't think the story lines, at least from what I've seen, match up. In the original I'm remembering the kid went into the world by accident, but again I could be wrong on this. Any other opinions on the new Tron movie? Do you guy's think this movie should be remade? I'm personally looking forward to it.

Im amazed that they managed to get most of the original cast. Its supposed to be a sequel but I barely remember the first. Whats with Disney making sequels to movies that came out in the 80's? Race to witch mountain srsly???

Synopsis of Tron Legacy: Sam Flynn, a rebellious 27-year-old, is haunted by the mysterious disappearance of his father Kevin Flynn, a man once known as the world's leading video-game developer. When Sam investigates a strange signal sent from the old Flynn's Arcade -- a signal that could only come from his father -- he finds himself pulled into a digital world where Kevin has been trapped for 20 years. With the help of the fearless warrior Quorra, father and son embark on a life-and-death journey across a visually-stunning cyber universe -- a universe created by Kevin himself that has become far more advanced with never-before-imagined vehicles, weapons, landscapes and a ruthless villain who will stop at nothing to prevent their escape.

Origional:A video game designer trying to prove a big time executive stole his idea is sucked into a corporation's mainframe where programs are personified counterparts of their writers and "users" are subjects of religious faith

Its not a Remake. Its effectivlly Tron 2. The Protaganist of this is the Son of the Protaganist of Tron, It fits as a sequel wulst also keeping within the real timeframe of space between the films.

And YES I AM DEFINATLEY SEEING IT!

I don't know. I'm glad they chose Tron though. Even if the story line turns out to be weak, the visuals look stunning. I love the retro futuristic feel. Thats part of why I like the Fallout series so much. It's not the same effect at all, but they both have that kind of antique yet futuristic feel to them.

Nostalgia is a powerful thing, and can make a significant difference in a film's success.

On topic, I think I'll be seeing it. Hopefully it will still be in theaters in the middle of January though, because I'll be going home the day it comes out and the theater there is a disgusting, dilapidated warehouse full of dropped candy and sticky seats.

Reposting because my connection hiccuped, hopefully it will work this time...

I'm sure it will be. Movies are usually out for like a month and a half before they go out of theatres. Possibly longer if it does well.

I'll be seeing it because of Daft Punk, and nothing else.
Hold up. Daft Punk is doing the soundtrack?
Oh I am so in.
It's a very good score, if a little on the short side. The main theme is actually memorable, which is something most films tend to fail at. Besides Inception, this is the best score I've heard this year. Hopefully the rest of the film is good (though I am confident of that after having seen twenty minutes of the film).

It's going to be awesome. I know what the setting for it is because I recently bought the tie-in graphic novel (Tron: Betrayal) that carries on from the first movie up to when Flynn goes missing.
This movie is going to kick sooooo much arse. I want it to be out now!

Looking forward to it, although that last trailer (and the one before it, to a lesser extent), showed me just how obvious the CGI of young Kevin Flynn's face looks. Didn't leave the best taste in my mouth, but again, still looking forward to it.
that is not young Flynn's face. that is CLU 2.0, a new program he created to look after the system in his place and think exactly like him. I know this from the new novel just released.
It's meant to be noticeable cgi because it's not flynn, just made in his likeness.
Then there's all these new amalgamations (like Ophelia) popping up everywhere and being created by nothing.
-Tabs<3- This move is going to be epic.

I may watch it for the soundtrack... but then I don't know how bad the movie will be so it's hard to say whether or not I'll be able to tolerate it. Who knows, it could actually be good.

I fondly remember Tron as being one of the coolest films I watched when I was little.

I was always going to go see it.

As someone who likes games, electronic music (daft punk are awesome) and loves sci-fi, this seems to tick all the boxes it needs to for me.

Looking forward to enjoying it. Just need a copy of the original for the mrs who's never seen it. I know, travesty.
