In the demo, the first election ends the game. But you can prevent that from happening. The trick is to simply not hire all your cabinet members. The main quest line won't continue until you get them all, so you are free to build up as much of a city as you want.

Heh heh, cheapskate. ;)

I was thinking of getting Tropico 4, but I already played 3 to death. Does anyone know if there is any point in getting 4 if you already have 3? I heard the updates weren't particularly large.

Cheapskate, or just flat broke! I wish I had money in the bank right now, so I could download the full version. That'll change soon enough.

I haven't played 3, but I heard that importing resources is new. You set various production buildings to import a resource, and can set the max dollars of all resources imported. Thus far I've been making a killing on importing sugar and turning it into spiced rum. Then when my sugar plantations start churning out sugar, my imported sugar drops off by itself. I've noticed that importing gold to make and then export jewelry doesn't seem to turn much of a profit. But the demo doesn't have electricity, so top tier upgrades aren't available.
