I probably would've insulted him in a more civilized way, poking fun at his class, his idea that he's a badass when he isn't, he blatant way of telling the world he thinks he's a badass, etc.
Me getting involved or not depends on me wanting to give my (albeit rude) two cents, or my interest in the argument or person, not who is among me.

1- Mass Effect 2 has taught me something with the renegade action trigger popping up on the screen- So hard to resist, but I do resist it.
Now the situation differs- If I had to stand up for myself, I'd walk away and allow him to sulk in there own waste of the digenerate life they live.
If I were standing up for someone else, I would insult him.
If there were a kid with me, I'd go Bruce Willis on his ass, and then explain to the kid about how people in this world suck.

This is why I walk to wherever I need to go. It would depend on how I felt that day, if I could tolerate his music, so I'd either shrug it off or casually ask him to turn it down. I might even give him a set of headphones so he could still hear it. If he did nothing, I'd badger him about it until I became more annoying than the music. If he still did nothing, I'd look him over and probably sit back down. I wouldn't hit him unless he touched me.
As far as seeing a bully, I'd firmly ask the person to stop. If they refused or started hitting me, I'd wail on the person until either they fell or I did. I've gotten very calm lately, and I try to not create violence in front of kids or old people, but I have zero tolerance for someone who violates my bodily security.

I'd like to say I'd introduce him to the delights of puréed food and the joys of having one's teeth forcibly relocated into one's gullet, but alas I'm quite cowardly for a big man. It doesn't help that if push came to shove I think I could kill someone in about ten seconds. Damned knowledge of anatomy...

By the way, I fucking hate people like that and I hope that person gets hit by a car and dies. I've got no time for them. If you want to be a hard arse, fair enough, but don't walk around swearing and yelling at people who have done nothing to you and don't ruin everyone's day. Asshole.
