The other day my friend loaned me a copy of red dead redemption ps3.
So after playing it (a lot, the game is awesome) the game froze and I had to restart the console.
After restarting it, the console was making a funnny noise and it couldn't read the game. "Shit", I think, after taking the game out and figuring the disc was broken.

So what should I do now, please answer?

Note: I handled it with care, in fact, I did not removed the game from the console. The game also froze one time once, I had to restart the console but everything was fine. AFter that I checked and everything was fine. The game was also in perfect conditions when it came. The console also is fine, as I tested the game after I found out

Well, you buy a new copy for your friend.

Edit: Also, did you move your 360 while it was on? I read in some other thread yesterday that it causes the console to chew up the discs.

Ps3. And no I did not. It just broke. That's why I'm so pissed off.

Ah, sorry, I missed that.
Hmhm, wonder what the cause could be then. Haven't seen simular troubles on the PS3. Mine has frozen a few times as well, forcing me to restart it, but it has never destroyed my games. :/

Another edit; Found this Youtube clip where they show how to solve simular problems, so it might be of some help. If your ment your disc is physically broken I reckon it won't work though. :<

Just sent a email to rockstar.
Hoping for the best.

How bad is the damage? If it's just scratched on the surface, it can probably be repaired.

Well, if the disk is broke, the disc is broke. Seems completely obvious to me what happened. The disc broke.

Buy a new one. So you can have one unbroken disc. Instead of one broken disc.

Word of the day is; broken disc.

Broke is a relative term that means non-working. I'm just trying to asses the extent of the damage. Is it scratched up, cracked (damage extends to both sides), or literally snapped in half? Determining how bad the damage is might also help determine how this happened in the first place.

captain obvious saves the day. I wonder what your reply will be when his console breaks another disc. Maybe it's a new marketing scheme of sony. Self destruct in the second console the game gets put in. Most be a friends console so the friend has to buy the original owner a new game. (j/k)

They are two cracks relatively small from the center out.

Well, who knows what whimsy thing Sony will do next... I have a feeling we'll find out.

For now, Captain Obvious away! Towards the thread of 'Were nazis really evil?' (There is no such thread, I am sorry to disappoint.)

I take it from that to mean that the cracks are visible on the label-side (where the data is kept), which means it is irreparable. I did a search and it seems that Rockstar does have a disc replacement policy. It will cost money to replace it, so I suggest either doing it yourself or, if you need your friend to do it, give him the money he needs to replace it.
