aaah yes, company of heroes- great game! I love how you can outflank enemy positions just by driving a tank through anything in the way. The constantly shifting battlefield is brilliant.

Yay, I love Relic! I own the Dawn of War series and Company of Heroes, and I've played every demo they've ever released, even Impossible Creatures, which kinda sucked. Thanks for giving them some publicity. And I do hope they make it to the finals.
Also, there is a Dark Crusade demo, but I don't think it's on Steam.

I own all of them except Homeworld, Company of Heros is most likely my favourite RTS ever.

Certainly not the one I'm best at though.

Well Relic reacquired the Homeworld rights somewhile ago. I don't see why they wanted it if they don't plan on doing anything with it.

I own the entire Company of Heroes collection, which I got for $12.50 on Steam, it was a great deal.

I like Dawn of War II as well, but I don't like Games for Windows Live so I'm holding back on that. The RTS-RPG thing is cool, though.

Honestly I would try to play them but the instant I would download them my computer would probably crash. (Note that I am on an old desktop that only has xp without either of the service packs which also somehow prevents me from getting steam )

Why don't you download the service packs?

because my parents are stupid. Honestly the computer is actually old enough it might not be able to handle them which I personally would find hilarious. And they are just going to buy a new one soon of the gaming variety.

Big fan of Homeworld, could do with another one. Might get around to checking out Company of Heroes. Played the rest of 'em already.

Also Soulstorm sucks schlong.

No it didn't. it's just that the air units were over hyped and thus when they turned out to be tanks that only some of your units could fire at everyone felt let down.

But other than that it was just Dark Crusade with Sisters of Battle and Dark Eldar.

It did suck schlong. Here's why:

- Lazy design. A lot of the animations used here were minimally re-skinned ones from the previous games. (SoB building construction comes to mind.)
- Missions to acquire control of a webway gate were a pain in the butt. And to add insult to injury, you had to do them twice in a row to secure the connection.
- Defending territory was like pulling teeth because all your previously erected fortifications mysteriously vanished.
- The two new factions were aggressively unnecessary, especially the Dark Eldar.
- And to top it off the game was stuffed to the brim with bugs, glitches and stability problems, both online and offline.

OT:
I never played Homeworld, and I didn't like Company of Heroes.

However, I am a big fan of Relic's Dawn of War series (with the exception of Soulstorm, but that wasn't Relic's screw-up). I just finished the campaign mode of the new DoW2 expansion 'Chaos Rising' two days ago... not the longest I've seen, but it does have a lot of replay value due to the new Corruption gameplay mechanic and the fact that

the identity of the battle-brother who ultimately turns out to be the traitor in your midst differs according to the tiniest choices you make during your game.

By the way, is it just me and my ineptitude at this genre, or did anyone else have a ridiculously hard time beating Ulkair at the end?

Relic has done well, but BioWare has an insanely good track record, so I think this is as far as they get. Good effort though, getting all those links together.

Ulkair can be hard it times but its good to have a strong foe to beat. Just be prepared for tatical withdrawals if things get too hot. As for the Demo list its good , But i would recomend buying Dark Crusade.

This. I own every Relic game but the expansion to Company of Heroes and Homeworld. Excellent studio, and I <3 Dawn of War.

I do prefer the first DOW over the second though. DOW2 has too small a unit cap, so you can't get the appropriately epic feel of the first game. My Ork WAAAAGHs are usually 3-4 dozen Slugga Boyz in DOW2, compared to ~150 in DOW1.
