this has to be one of the most bizarre con experiences I've ever heard of. This is what happens when you have a bunch of amateurs thinking they can handle something this serious. Conventions have to be run efficiently, no matter how small.

Perhaps it's a little harsh to speak of the entire community, it may be wiser to stick with the vocal part of it. It is the vocal part who rolled with all of this. Though I must say, looking at the actions of the attendees, the people who bought into all of this... The naivete of it all, it's staggering.ayvee said:

I kind of feel bad for the people who went. A badly executed con is one of the most depressing things ever. But for the love of god don't take it out on Hotel staff. They are just doing their jobs. Honestly, this thing is both incredibly worrying, and hilariously stupid to watch. Well, they have a severe lack of ability, to be sure.
Either way, though, something should be sorted out in terms of refunds. To give them credit, the organizers have said they'll try to refund the £$17000 to the people who paid it (Through a rather easily abuse-able system involving writing down how much you're owed and your paypal, apparently - which just goes to show.), though refunds for the cancelled concert haven't been mentioned yet. (I guess ball-pits, raffles, and seating to another concert are enough.)
Make of it all what you will. I know some people on Tumblr have been disappointed as hell at this, so even they realize it's a load of mismanaged crap at best, and a total scam at worst.
So let me get this straight:

The PROBLEM is that the SJW's and activists ON tumblr make the MOST POSSIBLE NOISE THEY POSSIBLY CAN in hopes that they continue to represent themselves as the forefront of tumblr. And until that part of tumblr has its face stomped in and is put in a cage where it belongs, so shall the public and detractors continue to identify tumblr as being nothing but a place for radical activism to fester and grow. Tumblr is full of new age hate speech that favors censorship, attacking people with false accusations and slander and frequently is guilty of hypocrisy with what they say.ayvee said:

You DO have to seek it out but only because of how the blogging system WORKS on tumblr. You 'have' to pursue the content and it's BECAUSE of this exclusivity that reblogging on tumblr encourages that it's just not as blatantly obvious to the public as it should be.
So yeah, I can assure you it is there... But in the interest of my ideals to not partake in the same actions as these people I'm criticizing, I'm not about to name/identify anything specific.
