Tv Shows or films that make you visibly uncomfortable

I know someone who saw just part of the sequel (the part with the woman and the baby in the car, and the accelerator pedal) and had to run out and be sick.

Don't worry guys, the third ones in post production!

so there were 3 "volunteers" in the first, 12 in the second, so what 48 for the next?!?

Spoiler: The Okinawa episode

I was pretty much horrific at those Japanese soldiers had used their own well Okinawa civilians as human shield, bait and a living trap (mainly that scene with that mother got a bomb strap hidden underneath her clothing!

I was lead to believe the Japanese soldiers were somewhat honorable but I guess that episodes had proven me wrong! Sure the excuse would be like "sacriface for the greater cause" or "there's nothing more honorable than sacriface yourself for your country" but in my view that was below the belt!

I have trouble sitting through comedies where the premise of the jokes is "look at this awkward situation and laugh at it."

There are certain shows, like Inbetweeners, which I found hilarious, but which I couldn't watch for more than 10 minutes at a time because the awkwardness of it just made me feel too awkward.

I'm the same - I've got a rather high tolerance for violence and various depravity, but I also struggle with awkwardness.
Try Peep Show. That's the king of awkwardness based humour. And it's partly inner monologued as well, which makes things even worse. This bit is downright excruciating, but it's not the worst example:

well the locals all believed the US troops would rape and kill them and that the food they would be given was poisoned. there is infamous footage of civilians on okinawa throwing themselves off cliffs rather than be captured and what they thought would happen to them at american hands

That remind me of some history infor when I read further about that part of the war (granted I can't remember if it's still true or not).
The Okinawa that were under US soldiers hands were in fact shocked to the treatment they were given as in the stuff the Japanese soldiers told them about being capture were all a lie (like I said I can't remember if this is true or not).
Beside in that episode, you can clearly see the civilian were in distress in their ordeal and not exactly the volunteer type to be in the war.

Sometimes certain deaths of characters really disturb me and I have to take a minute to collect myself before I continue watching.

Spoiler: Breaking Bad

Most recently was Todd killing Andrea in Breaking Bad. His dead sociopath eyes greeting her at the door and then shooting her in the back of the head just fucked me up. I guess it's when innocent people are hurt that I get uncomfortable. And Jessie's reaction just took it even further.

Don't you mean The Human Centipede 2? Because the first one really wasn't that bad.

Also this. The second one was all sorts of fucked up. I don't usually watch horror or gore films but this one was especially sick. The first one might as well have been rainbows and sunshine compared to the second.

I am the same way that type of watch a person in a super embarrassing situation for laughs makes me so uncomfortable i have to turn it off.

first would be an ellen page movie called hard candy. made me feel empathy for a vile monster which is a disturbing thing to get my head around and made me question so much of my empathy towards others.

Brilliant movie isnt it? It not only makes yous you empathize with a guy who is a child rapist and killer, but it makes you hate Paige's character who is the person punishing him for what he has done. The role of the punisher is one many people can imagine themselves in but the way she plays it makes you realize that you can fight evil with evil.

I just can't stand any series where there's bullying. I actually didn't finish a manga book I'd bought because the bullying was just too much. (It was A Devil's Love Song book 1, in case you were wondering.)
Skull and Bean from Power Rangers are the most I can handle.

Hard Candy: Interesting. I always empathized with the Ellen Page character and thought the dude got everything he deserved.

It's been said a lot but I can't stand awkward based humor, particularly when the likeable character digs themselves a hole. When I was a kid I couldn't watch Everybody Loves Raymond, I had to leave the room because I just couldn't stand watching it. Even now when anything awkward happens on TV I find myself just staring at my feet or at the wall.

Also, not TV/movie but the mission in Far Cry 3 in which you have to kill the cheetahs with the flamethrower. I'm usually fine with violence, especially in video games but something about the way the cheetahs acted when on fire just made me hate myself. Couldn't touch video games for a couple of weeks after that.

Even though it is one of my favourite movies; Trainspotting is VERY difficult to watch at several points.
The key one is when Mark is going through heroin withdraw cold turkey. *shudders*

I've never actually come across anything that made me uncomfortable enough to stop watching. But I refuse to watch Little Miss Sunshine again. That one came really close. Awkward, jokeless, and painful. How the hell is that considered anything, let alone a comedy.

The reason that the Okinawans believed that the Americans would torture them was in part due to Japanese propaganda. They were indoctrinated to believe that the American soldiers were serial killers and murderers.

How I met your mother had some really good moments, seemingly taken straight from life, that gave me goosebumps all over.
