I've been stuck for two years now. My first experience with TvTropes was in February of 2008. I haven't left since. I go on every day for minimum two hours, maximum twenty four. It's terrible. It really has ruined my life... and yet, I can't leave.

send help.

The funny thing about TvTropes, is these stories really are just....well, accurate. Its literally not an exaggeration that when you get sucked into opening tabs to put interesting stuff aside to read later, you end up with a ton open and several hours gone by.

Its happened to me a few times before, if you can force yourself to not open everything in a new tab it helps a lot, but sometimes its too tempting.

Whenever I play a new game, or watch a new anime, or read a new webcomic, I have to check its trope page.

I can't help it. It calls to me, and them I'm stuck there for at least two hours.

I get stuck on occasion, but can usually escape within a couple hours.

The trick is to REFUSE to use tabs.
This is my secret strategy. Never been trapped more than two hours.

I have learned that it is an awful idea to use TVtropes when procrastinating.
Too true.

My theory on why its so attention consuming is because its like Wikipedia, but its about all the stuff you love. TV shows [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Television], anime [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Anime], movies [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Film], video games [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/VideogameTropes], manga [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Manga], narrative elements [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/NarrativeTropes], memes [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/MemeticMutation], religion [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ReligionTropes], books [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Literature], music [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/MusicTropes], and tropes themselves [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/TropeTropes]. So you have a wealth of info at your fingertips (just a link away!) and its all so interesting to read.
Damn you! I opened three tabs before I realised what I was doing!

Been to T.v trops ever now and then, found some of the articals funny and what not but never got addictited or anything. I find it a tad boring, fun when every someone links it here but even then I usally don't read the full artical.

I've had a TVTropes session last over 2 days. Not counting sleep, work, or commute, I spent almost 16 hours just clicking, tabbing, and reading. I love that site but, as we all know, TVTropes will ruin your life.

Whoops. Probably should have put the Warning farther up to stop people from doing the same. Sorry about the time you lost. You had fun didn't you though? At least in TvTropes you can have fun.

Yeah, I'm actually on it right now. I've kind of been on TV Tropes for about 2-3 years now... Or was it 1-2? Crap, I forgot.

The longest I ever spent on there at one time was maybe 50 minutes. But that was because "Stupid Sexy Flanders" lead to a whole mess of other things I never noticed in a few series I used to like.

I've seen the site a few times, but it really does not hold my interest. I find it too broken up with tangential links that seem too random. Sometimes, it would seem as though every third word or phrase was linked to another trope, but the phrase made no sense at all until you clicked on it to see the trope. Afterward, I would just exit that new tab because it seemed a waste to go through. Then when I look at the original tab, I lose all of my interest because of that other bloody trope link.

When I click on links, it auto opens into a tab.
:(
I don't know how to change it, so yeah. Tvtropes is my nightmare.

The reason as to why it's addicting is easy. There's just so much stuff to read and it is consistently interesting. Plus every other sentence gives a new link so before you know it your current browser's tabs are so filled up that it opens a new window for extra tabs. It's truly one of the best and worst places on the Internet simultaneously.
