I think I watched the movies up until the fourth one, after which I was like, "OK, fuck it, I'm done."

Because once they introduce a "divine" pokemon, it's all over. You can't be the greatest pokemon master if you don't have Buddhasaur.

Pokemon's so retro that it's coming back into fashion - I'm in Year 11 and I'm sure everyone in the year has it on their phones, Ipods or even bring in old gameboys to go on it. And I really do mean everyone, including the whole of the Rugby team.
It's the same in my town. I know loads of people that still play the older ones, myself included. In fact, I just beat Crystal again last night.

Ah, people discussing a series they dislike. I'd say something spiteful, but I might get banned for saying something negative. So instead, I'll say something insightful.

There were not one, but two pokemon given out in relation to this movie. One, the titular Arceus, was if you went to see the movie in theatres (it's only been out a week though). The second was a Pikachu-coloured Pichu, given out to those who pre-ordered their tickets.

Also, for those who are even slightly interested, here is a summary of the plot:

1. God tries to destroy the world
2. Ash and friends go back in time
3. Villain tries to kill God
4. Pikachu dies
5. Return to the status quo

The reason why everyone besides Ash and Team Rocket have to leave is so that no one realizes that kids are supposed to grow up. Team Rocket are supposedly adults, and Ash has been a zombie since the events of the first movie.

It just goes to show that Japan is a place where crazes never die...

Then again the franchise did diversify into EVERYTHING, so it would be fairly difficult for the franchise to disappear completely.

I am not afraid to admit that I am one of the buyers of pre-sold tickets for this movie.

Am I a bad person for enjoying the first two movies and Mewtwo's Return?

Mewtwo's Return in particular was probably the most violent Pokemon film to date. It actually featured humans treating pokemon to electroshock therapy and painful torture. Giovonni rules. Also, no more pansy Pokemon trying to take down Mewtwo. No, now we've upgraded to the Generic Robot Twins of Awesomness.

Proving that robots > the most powerful psychic being ever created.

QUIET, SILVER IS STILL THE BEST!!

There is nothing wrong in playing the old games, but since now there are over 450 of those monsters and they are getting more and more stupid...

This makes me feel old. Nearly as old as when I saw a Game Boy Color and a copy of "Pokemon Red" in a display case with an iMac. Where? At the Henry Ford museum.

I'm not that old, right? Right?

Holy crap, 2.4 million pre-sold tickets? I mean, that's big even for America. Let me put this into perspective. Unless someone bought two tickets (for reasons of obesity, I imagine), about 1.86% of Japan's population bought tickets ahead of time. That would be the equivalent of 5,655,511 tickets in America, or 1,142,024 in the UK.
