What's the most messed up book you have read. Either a twisty turny plot that really has you guessing, or just plain insane plots that just seem to work.

House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski is truly messed up and one of my favourite books ever.

Fight Club was great and thankfully the movie adaptation was pretty much spot on with the feel to it.

The Helmet of Horror by Victor Pelevin - this was weird, the whole book is written like chat rooms but the plot is, well just out there.

The Naked Lunch i never read a more disturbing novel in my life i could not even finish it. A book that basically details torture drug, sexual, violence in each stage in how to destroy the human will. think i got halfway thru the book before i had to just give up and return it to my buddys sweet innocent girlfriend i borrowed it off of.

FireFly, by Michael Stackpole. Its basically about a monster that makes people so horny they can't control themselves, and than eats them. It has frequent and graphic sexual encounters, not all of them pleasant, including a very large amount of sexual deviance and pedophilia.

And they monster eats your innards through your dick. Ouch!

The Stars My Destination was pretty weird towards the end. It turns into a real mind screw, with past, present and future flicking by pretty much interchangeably. On top of that, it actually manages to make literature a visual medium in order to depict synaesthesia.

And it works brilliantly.

just plain wrong
You did read the book, right? There were two, maybe three pages of weird sex. The way people talk about it makes it seem like it's 700 pages of Jennesta raping people. It really, really isn't.

The one that's forming in my mind after reading your post.

It's apparently about a serial killer running around poking people to death.
But that's more weird than twisted.

But whatever.
See, that reminded me quite a bit of the short film someone did that's basically a fake comedy trailer for a film (the trailer itself is about ten minutes long) where the film is about a Japanese demon that kills people by hitting them with spoons repeatedly for years and years at a time until the person goes insane. It can be found on Youtube. Very, very weird, but also very funny :).

Anyway, not read many weird or disturbing books, but I do write some twisted stuff. A series of short stories I'm working on revolve around a group of characters, led by a girl who has an on/off relationship with another girl who's really a demon from the underworld who is indirectly responsible for the death of the leader's grandmother. Supporting them are a couple who are literally insane and murdered their own families, and possibly even had sex among the bloodcovered corpses of their respective parents. Another character is a psychotic sadist who is also in love with her own brother.

The worst part? These are the good guys!!!!!

Twisted novels... I've only read a few and three of them were from the Hannibal Lecture series. The last one was "Amercian Psycho".

All of them were EXTREMELY violent with cannibalism, and everything involved in the dark and disturbing world of serial killers such as Hannibal.

'American Psycho' was notably gruesome and unnerving because the main character had a fetish for necrophilia and other sex practices with his deceased victims. He's the most extreme example of a sadist and sociopath based on his desciption of his exploits.

I won't give anything away, but they are quite distrubing and I probably won't reread the ever.

Nothing gets more twisted than a spy that works for the US,Britain,China and Russia at the same time just because he likes his job.

So Noble house by James Clavell

EDIT: You don't need unicorn horns used as pleasure-toys to read something twisted.Real life novels have good stories too.
