Twisted

Ive had many controllers in my 30 years playing games, but I have found for some reason microsoft wired controllers (IE xbox & 360) have a nasty tendency to have the cords get twisted and bunched up extremely easily, especially when wrapping the cord around the controller when it is not in use. It also seems that the more twisted they get the more prone to short out or complete fail they become.

Is it me just imagining it? or is this a fairly common problem with microsoft wired controllers? Or is there some sort of trick I havent learned over the years that when properly applied will allow me to avoid this very minor nuisance?

I remember going through 4 xbox controllers in less than a year and a half. The only wired 360 controller I have in my house is the one I keep attached to my PC for a myriad of games.

I find that it's best not to wrap wires around the controller, it just wears them down. Same applies for headphones etc.

I would guess this is the answer. And if I remember correctly 'the duke' did have a rather thick, stiff, wire.

Well I would yeild to the logic of not wrapping it around the controller, which I gave up doing right after the 4th xbox controller shorted out. However, doing the exact same thing to Atari 2600, NES, SNES, TGFX, Saturn, PS1, PS2,n64, gamecube, Nyko Airflow PC, and literally every other controller other than the MS branded controllers Ive ever owned Ive done this to and never once had a single problem out of any of them. (though on the last ps2 controller, the plastic coating did separate from the body exposing the wires, but It still never cause a performance related issue ) This is the reason I find it so confusing. I dont understand where the difference comes in from MS design on the controller.

I found that happening with my original xbox controllers, but despite the wires being super twisted, they never stopped working, even for a second.
