4chan is chaos, and chaos accomplishes nothing. Normal people don't go there. It sits in its own little corner of the internet and doesn't really do much. Twitter and Facebook have penetrated into mainstream thought and changed the way normal people live their everyday lives...and I believe they did so in a very negative way.oneniesteledain said:What, 4chan doesn't count?Krakyn said:All I have to say is good on whoever attacked those sites. Social networking sites are possibly the most damaging thing the internet has ever given us.
I believe Krakyn was referring to those who spend every waking hour on myspace/facebook, racking up countless friendz, but those same people can be found in absolutely any medium that's connected the net...say forums or MMOs (LEIK PSO!!), so that does negate the point.oneniesteledain said:Well stated.
However, I fundamentally disagree. Social networking sites are an obvious extension of human social evolution. We evolved as (or were created as, take your pick) social animals. As technology has changed so has culture, at least in the Western world. I used to literally waste hours every sleepless night on MySpace, but I did so because I was bored and I had nothing particularly special to do. The reason I spent so much time on MySpace is because I was deployed, and it kept me in contact with people in the real world during what is invariably a very lonely time. I see nothing negative about that.
well its either Anonymous or these guys:The_Oracle said:4Chan seems to be on another one of its raids, I see. I can't decide whether to be amused or exasperated.
Any news on who the hackers responsible for this might be?
What are they talking about? Isn't the whole point of twitter to make all data public?nilcypher said:Twitter has taken pains to reassure users that no personal data was compromised...
