How do people use that site? Its probably the least user friendly interface I've ever ran across. I got an email from Nvidia about signing up on twitter in order to win some computer, and good lord, it took me forever to figure out what the hell I had to do for it.

Whats the big deal with that garbage website? Only 160 characters to type something out as well? I just don't understand...

and people who care to be updated every single moment of every single day
"I am defecating"
NICE TO KNOW.
"I like chickens and am going to bed now"
STOP IT NOW...

If I ever end up getting an account I'll shoot myself.

There's only a little character space so people get right to the point about what they're doing.

I enjoy it. It's useful for being direct, being evasive, being subtle, quick connections, finding out things you'd otherwise not have known etc.

I don't really mind Twitter, but I do mind what it does to people. We all know what I'm talking about: those people that buy the really expensive cell phone so they can post updates on Twitter.

I find twitter annoying as hell but that doesn't mean it's a bad application. I just can't be arsed with it, all these years I have followed my friends social networking craze through Hi7, Mybook, MSN and Facepage but no more. I refuse to twitter or listen to other people twitter about their bowel contents.

If I want to talk to someone I will call them or email them.

All I can say is:

Simon Pegg
Kevin Smith
Stephen Fry
Stan Lee
William Shatner

All have verified accounts on twitter!

I like these guys and they provide amusement in 140 characters or less.

Is Twitter a good idea? In theory, yes. I can see how getting small snippet updates could be interesting and I've seen it used in a few interesting ways - One guy twitter'd a few key talking points from Sarah Palin's recent speech in Hong Kong which was a good read. There's also been a few oopsies such as Jonathan Ross accidentally announcing Fable 3 and that other guy accidentally announcing inFamous 2. Companies and organisations can use it to post update information on products or meetings or whatever.

Then again, I feel it gets overused but so do things like Facebook. A person's status doesn't actually change every five minutes unless you have one hell of a rollercoaster ride for a life and most of the time no one cares what you do during the day. It's nothing they couldn't ask you about later in the evening face to face or by phone. Or if they're far away and abroad, Skype.

I feel Twitter doesn't get used to its full 'potential', or gets overused, by much of the general public. The follower rankings become little more than circle jerk fests and it turns into a MySpace/Facebook issue again. And we already have MySpace and Facebook.
