Hokay, so there's been two things wrong with my computer at the moment. It's a Windows XP Home SP3.
First problem, every time I open Firefox it asks me if I want to set it as my default browser. I've tried setting it from the options menu, but IE just keeps coming back as default and I'm apparently not allowed to delete it (computer says so, not parents).
Second problem, every now and then I'll be playing a game and my character will suddenly spaz out. This has happened in both Doom and Crash Bandicoot 2 (running through an emulator). They both run through Steam, which I've suspected is causing the issue, because my keyboard doesn't continue holding keys down on its own anywhere else.

Any help with either problem is appreciate :3

Control panel -> internet options -> programs, uncheck the IE as default browser.

Also make sure Firefox is set as default via program access and defaults. Do not have Firefox open for this.

"Internet Explorer is not currently the default browser."
It says that, but it still opens with IE when I click a link in say, Skype or something. :/

For those old games Steam is using a specific version of DosBox. Which doesn't react well to alt-tab's. It can really mess up the control setups for a few games.

** edit: possibly have to set default program for .html files

Hokay, it's been years since I used XP so I'm not sure if these options are available to you. Do you have an "associate a file type/protocol with a program" option anywhere on Control Panel? For 7 it's under Default Programs. If you do, find .htm and .html and associate them with Firefox.

Remember though, certain links will only ever open in IE if they have been programmed to do so.
