Two New Mass Effect: Andromeda Trailers to Spark Your Pathfinding Spirit

The two new cinematic trailers give us a glimpse into Mass Effect Andromeda's story and crew.

Are you getting hype for Mass Effect Andromeda [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/tag/view/mass%20effect%20andromeda?os=%20mass%20effect%20andromeda], Bioware's latest foray into the Mass Effect series due out this March? These two cinematic trailers released today may help. The first, the Official Cinematic Trailer #2, gives us a movie-trailer style glimpse into the game's story. Check it out below:

From it, we can see that players will play as a team of "Pathfinders" - explorers searching the universe for new planets and life - who find themselves right in the middle of a very hostile new galaxy.

The second trailer - "Pathfinder Team Briefing" - gives us some more information on who exactly will be accompanying you on your journey to Andromeda. Check it out here:

The video reveals the leading members of the human Pathfinder team on Ark Hyperion, including Pathfinder Alec Ryder, his children Scott and Sarah Ryder, Crisis Responder Liam Kosta and Operations Specialist Cora Harper.

Mass Effect: Andromeda is due out on PC, Xbox One and PS4 March 21.

I don't need an army. I've got a Krogan!

Now where have I heard that before?

"I have an army."

"We have a Hulk."

Closest thing I can think of, although the similarity didn't occur to me until I read your post.

Or were you already thinking of that and asking sarcastically?

Didn't watch the second one, as I want to get to find out more of the ensemble as I play the thing myself, but that 'cinematic'/narrative trailer's probably the best promo for the game I've seen yet.

The villain/antagonist and his minions seems utterly bland, but character interaction and fancy visuals is the reason why I play Mass Effect - not the ho-hum gameplay or plots - and this got me more interested than any of the other vids so far.

Bloke-Ryder stills seems powerful boring, though. Can't wait to try to ditch him at every opportunity in the game.

Too much pre-hype for a game still 2 months out. Sheesh!
Oh come on, these days two months is practically on the eve of release - for a game or film.

I was being a sarcastic a-hole.

Weren't AI's illegal or something in the ME universe? I know these guys are far away from all that, but you get another potential Geth situation. I am aware of EDI being an exception too, seems odd these guys would have one right off the bat though.

An AI named SAM? Well, obviously they stole the tech from Mars and gave it a gender swap. 0_0

Wouldn't be the first time they have done a major retcon in the series and expected everyone to accept it.

It still made me smile; my love for Krogans outweighed the un-originality.

To me the characters look... ugly, the dialogue/exposition generic as all hell and the stiff animations doesn't help at all, my pathfinder spirit is wet and in a dark place.

*sigh*

I want so badly for this game to be good. I even got a little excited about the game today, when I saw the trailers on the front page.

But deep down, in my heart of hearts, I just know that it's gonna be a colossal disappointment, just like Dragon Age: Inquisition was.

Maybe I'm wrong. Hopefully I'm wrong. But from what I've seen so far, I've not been given a lot of reason to think that I might be. Still...it's out in about two months. We won't have long to wait.

This is the exact situation I'm finding myself in.

I actually, finally, uninstalled Inquisition yesterday after like a year or two of "I'll play it more, eventually. And when I do I'll totally get out of that first big ass MMO area and the controls are probably not as shit as I remember."

I'm hoping it's not terrible. I really am. But the weight of what I don't like about previous entries is kinda crushing at this point.

I got a little hyped that Donald Glover made it into the game..

But this is a pure wait and see for me. Being a Pathfinder to me doesn't seem to be as cool as being an N7 Spectre. Character choices in this game doesn't seem to matter as much they did in previous games (where you can pick any ability in this one, but you just have to bring up the pause screen to switch them out). And dickishly... finding a new home for humanity doesn't sound as grand to me as fighting the Reapers.

Technically AIs are illegal without special permits and complicit Citadel Support. Lacking that, you're basically going to be hunted down by SPECTREs. However the Citadel isn't totally stupid in that factor, and AI research is done by government agencies and a few supported companies.

On the topic at hand, it's finally made me sit up and pay attention, but I'm playing it close by ear.
