Yep. The country with the best "Way Words Are Spelled to Way Words Are Pronounced" ratio.

I mean, we still pronounce "could" as "cuhd" instead of "co-uld" so we aren't perfect, but at least we can spell "color" properly.
and "shop", "center", and most of all "theater"

I see so many ways that this thread could not work if you were only mildly accented if at all...

I sometimes say my Ts like Ds I guess, really I don't have much of an accent, so many different types of European blood in me that anything genetic has been blown away...

I took a nap on the graass, before I went insaade.

We don't like our vowel sounds in these parts.

Sorry, but the way Americans spell it, it should technically be said as "co-lor"

I actually don't have a strong accent, despite being raised in the Black Country in the middle of England (the accent is apparently similar to the 'Brummie' accent of Birmingham, but with subtle differences, not least the main one whereby if you ever call a Black Country resident a 'Brummie', you will be shanked...).

That said, I will participate, using the accent I should have from my hometown, rather than the accent I do have which is oddly enough somewhat more posh.

How are you? Did you see that horse just then? Big one, isn't it?

Ow am ya? Did yow see that 'oss then? Big'un, ay it?
Funny thing: What inspired me to do this thread was my teacher commenting on how someone she knew had a Black Country accent, and instead of saying "You are doing that" she said "Yams doin' dat"

And then you went and ruined it with "Herbs"

There's a H for a reason. You don't call 'em "Amburgers" or saying "Ello" do you!?

I keed, I keed. But stop calling them Erbs, it's silly

idk about where you are, but for some people where i live, herb with a pronounced H means "fag" or "little *****".

mike: c'mon man, try the 5-alarm super-hot fire engine sauce.
joe: no, it's too damn hot, i'll be sick all day!
mike: don't be such a herb! just try some!

I know a chap from Barnsley. Nicest guy I've ever met, but it sounds like he's just been hit on the head and is having a hard time remembering his name. Also, I keep expecting, in the middle of whatever we're talking about, for him to say:

"Ooooooooh. A coop'f tea'd be loouuvleh"

I can see this thread going horribly wrong. I see lots of Americans claiming to be accent-less. I'd say that's probably untrue and you probably sound unbelievably American to me. In the same sense that I would usually say I'm free from accent when in fact I probably sound unbelievably English to you.

OT: Being a Norwegian, I guess I only have like the Scandinavian accent(trying everything not to sound like this.( "the demper"= suspension in cars)

Much of my writing(with friends) is a mixture of norwegian and english, making it difficult to understand for outsiders. But that's a plus right?
