I honestly wonder what goes through these people's heads... do they not watch tv, go see movies or enjoy football (modern day gladiator arenas)..?

Violence in its more innocent forms is a necessary human thing to experience.

Violence is necessary to be able to hunt and kill prey to survive and is a very natural instinct.

The ability to think and act is a human trait and is what keeps us from doing wrong. You could subject someone to 20 years of non-stop violence and that wouldn't make them a violent person, because they would still have a clear idea of right from wrong, good from evil, and would still possess the freedom of will to do something bad or not to.

Playing video games, watching movies or basically enjoying simulated violence does NOT make you more violent, evil or anything silly like that. Only those who crave, desire or enjoy ACTUAL violence will get actual indulgence from simulated violence.

Those of us who are healthy, responsible, normal human beings with self control can play video games all our lives and live like ghandi if we so chose to.

Me personally, I have been playing video games and watching movies (some very violent, dark or horrific) all my life of 24 years, and even when confronted in physical confrontations in real life, I've remained calm and passive.

Anyway, back on my original point, people like this are incredibly silly and I wonder if they enjoy their life at all, or just depend on alcohol or their wives body for their 'joy in life' sustenance.

An increasing connection between violent videogame players and commiters of violent crime? My god! It's almost as if more people were playing videogames!

I gotta ask, when are we going to do the smart thing and just ignore these anti-game guys? They just spout out the same crap and they never change anything, it's hardly news-worthy.

I was going to post the video, but I guess you just ninjad me.

OT: Well this man just sounds uneducated on the matter at hand. But other than that I kinda just feel sorry for him for picking on something he has no knowledge of.

Right, because we all know full well that the outlandish shit that goes on in the MW series will definitely make children pull Predator Drones out of their asses, bomb subways, rig trucks with chemical agents, or worse, carpet bomb the fucking Eiffel Tower in real life.

What do you think this speaks volumes about? This old ****** or us?

"increasing evidence of a link between perpetrators of violent crime and violent video games users"
So the fact the violent crimes have been on a sharp decline ever since Doom came out means nothing?

So he just wants to make it so it can only be sold to the people who are supposed to be playing it? I don't get what the problem is here. We all complain about the kids on COD and then when someone is going to change something that will make a difference all you people start crying.

Make up your fucking minds.

As someone who has worked in the system - An EDM needs the support of 100 of the 700 or so members of parliament before it is even discussed in parliament. Most MPs will refuse to sign anything unless asked to by their electorate.

As stated, this is very unlikely to be anything other than posturing.

Take this EDM: http://www.parliament.uk/edm/2009-10/1080

Has three times the signatures - absolutely no meaning.

"there is increasing evidence of a link between perpetrators of violent crime and violent video games users"
I have to call this out as a complete fabrication because there is not a single consclusive study or piece of scientific evidence that supports this not to mention that this doesn't make sense on a logical level either.

There are numerous reason as to why crime rates have actually declined since the advent of video games (and they were declining before their introduction as well, if video games did have this dangerous quaity to them then we'd surely notice a change in that trend). From the obvious fact that someone can't commit a crime while presently occupied by a game to the fact that the majority of games actually punish players for unwarranted acts of violence (for example, in Grand Theft Auto or Saints Row the player will be pursued by increasingly large numbers of police if they commit crimes or go on rampages and many games with moral choice systems tend to give better rewards for following the good path and being compassionate).

and calls on the British Board of Film Classification to take further precautions when allowing a game to be sold
What would those further precautions be?

Modern Warfare 3 was already rated an 18 (even though I personally would have been more lenient and said that it's content only warrented a 15 certificate) and the only rating that I can think of that's higher than that would be the X rating (which I'm fairly certain they stopped using before I was even born) which would effectively be banning the game (seeing as that would place it on the same level as hardcore pornography, something that I think most stores are forbidden from stocking).

If we aren't talking about increasing the age rating system then what else exactly? Being more strict about asking for age in stores?

This doesn't stop people purchasing online and still doesn't stop parents buying games for their kids, something I guarentee you is the main reason that your young child would have even remote exposure to the most graphic of games (they don't have the money to purchase them themselves online and most stores I've been to are very strict about the age requirement, more so with games than with movies).

I understand wanting to keep mature content away from children (and agree with that sentiment) but I'd say that we do a good job of that already (most failings of our current system tends to be parents circumventing it themselves).

So Modern Warfare 3 has scenes that resemble some actions from previous tragic events?

Oh my god. Everyone, I just realized... the original CoDs were based around the horrific events of World War II! I must notify the public of this tragedy and make oodles of attention criticizing the media for daring to publicize an event as horrible as that for money. No one else has ever, EVER done that before!
