They realized an army of non-citizens could backfire like it did for the later part of the roman empire.
The French seem to be doing alright with it.
I thought they pretty much dissolved the foreign legion? If they haven't it's a small part. Either way, its not good PR for your nation to make non-citizens from other nations die for your country.. its like.. outsourcing your military.

The Foreign Legion is still around. Fighting little skirmishes in Africa, protecting French interests. They're probably the only force who fight under the French flag who won't surrender/retreat.

Oh lord...they may as well put ads at 4chan -_-

If they HAVE to do online game advertising, do playstation home, I see socom posters all over that thing anyway.
Do you really think they want gamers? We'll be loudly complaining about the lack of epic boss fights or the forced linearity, and how the one hit kill system is too hard.
Don't forget the lack of quicksave or checkpoints, the constant grinding for levelups in Boot Camp and the fact that the weapons are all wrong and we know best since CS taught us ;)

They got three regiments of the Foreign Legion, who are the second best regular military unit (meaning not including special forces) following the British Royal Marine Commandos. They keep a constant presence in Africa including several major peace-keeping operations, such as one in the Ivory Coast. They are the best the French Military has to offer, and they could kick the arses of most other nations militaries (including the Americans and Germans). I don't know about the rest of the French Army, but the Foriegn Legion kicks arse.

I was thinking about going to France and joining, but I'd get paid better in the Australian Army.

Did no one bother to tell them that all the people who play second life would make awful soldiers?
