Very smartly done on the Recruiting subtlety US army...

Also, isn't this trivializing war? OH GOD, THAT VET IS MAD.
Eh, the US Army has been trivializing war for the last decade or so already. (OOH EDGY!)

EDIT - Also all of the weapon controllers are for PS3 only, the 360 only gets the headset and other gear. Possible link (given the timing) to Microsoft's <a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/114949-Kiss-Your-XBLA-Avatar-Guns-Goodbye>guns'r'bad policy? Or a case of 2 and 2 making 5?
More likely a case of the 360 not supporting odd peripherals in the first place. The guns all appear to be for PlayStation Move specifically; I can't imagine a gun-shaped controller working for anything but motion control systems these days (When was the last time gun-shaped controllers were even a thing? Those light guns people played Duck Hunt with on the NES?), and obviously Kinect doesn't use controllers.

I'm more curious what the heck the backpack is, and how it can state what systems it's "for". Is it actually a peripheral of some kind?

I know it sounds really base and deplorable for such a high minded PC gamer such as I, but Jesus christ I want these things. Probably the best toy guns I've seen for a long time.

Can I get one in a Styer AUG?

:p

Yeah, that was rather rude and snippy of me. I do apologise.
Nah, S'okay. I rarely hold a grudge.

My first thought as well. Or the previous MW commercial with Jimmy Kimmel. Or the America'a Army game. It all seems tasteless or just sales. You don't get to pick and choose.
Indeed, and that's the thing. I don't think any of these are particularly horrible regarding the military. I mean, taste is another thing, but they're just games. They're not meant to reflect military life. Except maybe AA, since that was a military propaganda piece. ;)

Pretty much the first thought that occurred to me.

Well, y'know, after <a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/comics/critical-miss/8741-Norks-in-the-Hooters>this...
Also a viable possibility.

Well, Kinect isn't the same as Move, and I think the reason they get these is because they're the ones with the hardware. Kind of like how PC and PS3 are the only ones who get Bluetooth, because they're the ones who support it.

Guncons only work if you have guncon games, and so far that means Sony or Nintendo.

Now all it needs to do is fire cream-pies and the clown-gun is complete.
Well you've got the hair and nose for it. You seem like the prime recruit the Americans are after.

I'll admit, the throat mic looks awesome, even though I probably wouldn't use it in any meaningful or remotely long-lasting way whatsoever.

I suppose they're trying to prepare that small demographic of gamers who actually join a military organisation after playing a million hours of the latest CoD map pack. I mean, if you've spent that man hours shooting Russians with a weighted piece of plastic shaped like an actual gun, you're probably going to be better prepared for using an actual gun.
