Yeah...
Shouldn't they have taken that 'first step' when they originally setup the PSN though?
You used to be funny with your terrible puns, but now all you do is wait for a new article about Sony to take pot shots from behind the internet.

OT: I'm happy with Sony's response too. I'm not sure why everyone seems to think Sony owe's them some massive prize. They got hacked, so they owe you security, which they've done (for 'mericans, but I expect similar plans are on the way for most other people too). So no bitching there.

Possibly they owe people for PSN being taken down, and they're doing that too.
He used to be funny? When? Where was I?

Oh I still make terrible puns. I understand If you don't like me dishing on Sony for their epic fail and unreasonable business practices, but what's with that whole 'from behind the internet' bit? It's not like YOU'VE posted under your real name (or put ANY information about yourself in your profile for that matter) I'll gladly insult Sony in public, but it doesn't usually come up in conversation outside of the escapist.
Hmm. I guess I just don't see you post anything but Sony bashing anymore. I just seems to have no purpose as the community is pretty galvanized as it is and you never raise any points worth talking about.

Also, Braedan is my name, I guess I just forgot to fill out my info.

I pretty much agree with everything Blumenthal is being quoted as saying here.

Am I the only one laughing at the fact that Anonymous got hacked by anonymous? That shit is too funny. Talk about a cat fighting itself in a mirror.
Happens all the time. Nothing new about it.

OT: That's great I guess. But I'm not involved with U.S. politics so why should I care?

Hey, I'm still in school, so I don't always have time to raise points (Not that I don't). If you want to see my jokes then you should check other articles besides the ones on Sony.

Also, I'm not saying you need to (or should) post ANY legitimate personal information on your profile. I'm just saying don't call someone out for "hiding" behind the internet when for all we know you're doing the exact same thing. As long as we're being honest though, Hank is also my real name.
Fair enough, I guess it just feels like you're railing against an target that doesn't hear you. I feel Sony isn't quite as EEEEEEEEEEEVIL as a lot of people are making them out to be. I don't approve of a lot of their recent moves, but they aren't satan incarnate.

I've never understood why internet/computer crimes/etc are referred to with the word "cyber." Cyber is just short for cybernetic, right? Which has little to nothing to do with the internet...
Is it just some stupid misused buzzword that caught on among government types?

Well, I guess somebody just got a large campaign donation from Sony...
If sony made a recent contribution to him it wont show up for a little while. I like what sony has done thus far to rectify what happened but if they sending out campaign contributions like bribes I will be fucking pissed.

I wont leave sony for the hack but i would for a campaign contribution used like that.

Protection against identity theft should not be a privilege at the company's discretion, or a commodity if the price is right. It should be mandatory by the law, and forced until no longer necessary. (Which means, forced until PSN no longer exists.) If PSN allows for someone to break into somebody else's account, they are accountable. Not the consumer.

Maybe he can convince his colleague in the lower chamber, Mary Bono Mack, to knock off all her grandstanding.
Blumenthal is the KING of grandstanding. That's the pot calling the kettle on that issue.

I was just being cynical, I doubt that Sony actually did anything like that. I wish it was always obvious who politicians get their money from though. Maybe it can be like NASCAR where they get the logos emblazoned onto their suits. That would be something to see haha.

The PSN didn't allow anything. http://lmgtfy.com/?q=define%3A+hacker

But if you consider the fact that not being 100% secure makes the company accountable, then you hold every website ever accountable. If it's online, it can be hacked. Microsoft, Facebook, and a bunch of other popular whatevers have had a problem with this in the past, too. (Not on as large a scale, but yeah.)

Ha yeah that would be hilarious having an exxon symbol on anybody opposing alternative energies.

Campaign contributions was actually my thought for this guys perfect 180, though its possible he was impressed by their actions. The campaign contributions are tallied up every quarter(I think) and there are several sites that track it. Sony actually contributes overwhelmingly to the democratic party. I think its a possibility but not likely anybody who has been following it knows sony let people know as soon as they knew and have geared up for the worst case scenario.

Guess what, that turns up nothing useful. You think I didn't already do that?
I was asking why it started being used in that context.

"I am also pleased with the quite large donation that Sony has given to a bank account that is obviously not mine, which shows their charity and extreme amount of effort Sony is putting into righting all the wrongs this scenario has created".
