Is it me or does Ubisoft just randomly have mood swings about platforms they don't like? First they didn't put Splinter Cell Conviction on PS3. Then they delayed the PC version of Assassin's Creed. And now they're making the HD collections of Splinter Cell and Prince of Persia PS3 exclusives. What do you guys think? Why do you think Ubisoft is making all these random exclusives and do you care?

Money, plain and simple. And yes, I do care, but it's not like I can do anything about it.

Won't care to buy a single Ubisoft game until they stop putting annoying DRM in all of their games. I know they don't like pirates but really! When someone purchases your game and you forces them to remain on the internet to play it and if the lose connection for more than 3 nanoseconds it drops you from your game you do not deserve my money.

It seems like Ubisoft is definitely distancing themselves from the PC gamers. When they aren't delaying or canceling PC ports of various titles, they're slapping draconian DRM protection on them. My theory is they think that consoles are where the money's at, so they decided to focus on that and leave PC gaming by the wayside.

It's all about the money for exclusive releases as well. They probably run projected sales simulations for the consoles, decide which one will net them the most money, and pick the winner for an exclusive.

They're just following the trend set by EA and Activision to follow the money trail at the expense of diversity.

Even though I love PC gaming much more than console gaming, there was no way I would ever release my game on PC if I were a developer. There's just too much risk, and way too much piracy. It's sad, but it's the truth of the situation. You either treat everyone like a criminal, or watch your game get pirated to hell and back.

Or you're Valve/Blizzard and everyone just loves you enough to buy everything you make.

In terms of the PS3 exclusives, it's quite possible that Sony paid UbiSoft money to do that, and I wouldn't be surprised, either; it makes sense to try to make money off of the generation in which you had the best console. The PS2 was the best part of the last console generation, and as such it makes sense that Sony would want to capitalize on gamers' nostalgia.

Similarly, SC: Conviction probably involved some sort of deal with Microsoft to keep it as a 360/PC exclusive.
