Apparently Splinter Cell Conviction is finally coming out this year (Source) [http://kotaku.com/5233173/ubisoft-firmly-believes-splinter-cell-conviction-will-hit-by-the-holidays]

And Ghost Recon 4 in 2010. (Source) [http://kotaku.com/5233231/ubisoft-announces-ghost-recon-4-for-2010]

I'm interested to see if GR4 is over the shoulder like GRAW, since it isn't going under the GRAW name.

And do you guys still care about Splinter Cell Conviction?

I was greatly excited for it when I first beat Splinter Cell Double Agent, but after all the delays and then them no longer releasing any information I don't know if I still care as much.

Thoughts?

I have never played a Splinter Cell game so it's good to hear there is a new one coming out so I can pick it up

I never really liked Splinter Cell, except when I played co-op with my brother and I killed him and refused to help him up ledges and stuff, but GR 4 sounds interesting. If its like GRAW2 then I'm picking it up fo sho.

I preordered Conviction around two years ago, wonder if its still in the system?
If it's through GameStop, I wouldn't get my hopes up.

Still need to pick up all Splinter Cells after the first.... Not that I was any good at them. I have all the stealth of a drunken elephant.

Might not be a good idea. The most recent one, Double Agent, was a massive disappointment to many, myself included. The one before that, however, Chaos Theory, was fucking awesome. You should pick that up. Here's hoping Conviction is closer to CT than DA.

The only Splinter Cell game I've played was DA, and I thought it was pretty underwhelming. I didn't even finish it. Here's hoping Conviction is better.

DA is seen as the Black Sheep of the series. Try Chaos Theory, it's pure liquid awesome.

I agree.
Chaos Theory was great.

Double Agent tried to be a Hollywood action packed thriller...and failed.

Agreed. I still play Chaos Theory every now and then, and I'm still challenged by some parts, particularly the Bathhouse and Hokkaido.

Double Agent, on the other hand, I still haven't finished. I was that disgusted by the paradigm shift.

I have beaten them all.

The stupidest part of Double Agent was that

You could choose to shoot Lambert instead of saving him to get the "bad" ending.

I don't get how you could do a sequel if you did that and killed that guy.

Try the first few, you won't be disappointed. There's just too much change in the newer ones though. I prefer the former.

Apparently, either way, you're on the run, and have to go help Grimmsdottir. At least they're trying to play off of what was arguably one of the best parts of Chaos Theory, the constant banter between the two. They're playing it like they really are friends.

Hmm will it play on either the 360 or PS3 w/bc (runs off to check). I actually heard good things about Pandora as well

Yeah, all the SC games are BC, don't worry. And yeah, Pandora Tomorrow's alright but...there's just something wrong with it, I don't know. Still fun though. In my mind, it goes like this:
Chaos Theory>Original>Pandora Tomorrow>Watching Paint Dry>Double Agent.

Did I mention I didn't like Double Agent?

Ubisoft is to good games as a turd is to wings.
They do have the occasional good game though, like my beloved Splinter Cell. And yes, I'm a SC fanboy.

I do much prefer the over the shoulder approach of Ghost Recon: AW. I don't think I can go back... don't make me go back Ubisoft!
