Y'know.. I actually HOPE that they have lots and lots of trouble and don't get their servers back online for several days. Watching Ubisoft squirm would be delightful :)
Why would they squirm?

You already payed in full for products you won't be able to use, Ubisoft made the money and during server downtime their power and data link bills will be much lower.

They would likely make money if things go wrong.

Oh look, here comes the anti-DRM and Ubisoft parade. Hey guys!

You know I kind of wonder what would happen if Steam ever happened to have its servers down for a day. Would everyone complain?
Yes, they would complain, rightfully so. I would also assume Valve know this and plan maintenance accordingly, much like Blizzard does.

You might want it to appear all corporations are same ... But they are not quite same after all.

Well, at least I'll still be able to play EndWar. Seeing as it doesn't use that stupid DRM. And nobody's complained about not being able to play it due to server maintenance or hacking yet. Funny how that works.

What do they think people are going to do when their single player game is unplayable because ubisoft, for some reason felt the need to punish their customers? Their customers are going to/should punish them.

Now, where's all those chumps defending Blizzard and Diablo 3?
because Blizzards servers just f**king work.. nuff said.. in the start when SC2 launhced (which also requires to be online all the time... as i recall.. no ?.. if no my bad sorry) never a single downtime on the online part whatsoever :)
Oh OK, we're past the pressing issue of "why the fuck am I always online for single-player?!", so now its OK as long as their servers haven't gone down. (Yet.)

Remember back when Assassins Creed 2 was released? Ubisoft servers got hacked and were down for several days IIRC. Days where nobody could play the hotly anticipated new game they'd bought for real money.

There was a shitstorm, and Ubisoft still carries that bad press baggage with it today.

You seriously don't think that if the same thing happens again they won't squirm? :p They're already pretty much one of the big "villains" in the industry, they don't need even more proof that their system is shit.

I remember people, customers, that already payed in full, complain.
I also remember Ubisoft not giving a damn, since they were already payed for it.

So yeah, I stand by my point. Ubisoft will only give a damn if people don't actually buy their crap unless they improve the customer care. That ain't happening enough eh?

And how much will this affect anyone? You won't get to play AC:2 for about 3 hours? Oh that sounds horrible.
And when Ubi decides that it no longer wants to support those games (or goes bankrupt)?

Personally, this is edification of my decision not to purchase anything from Ubi, no matter how cool it looks. I vote with my wallet and wish others would as well.

Well, naturally I can't speak for anyone else but I, at least, have stopped buying from them. Partly because of this, and partly because their new games seem to have gradually become worse.

You might want to put words into my mouth, but I won't accept. My post is over a hypothetical situation in which Valve's servers are down, which is entirely possible because problems such as hardware error or power failure could occur. In addition, since this is a hypothetical situation the reasoning behind it need not be explained, its a matter of X happens what follows.
