I have gotten a disk with Ubuntu 10.04 from a friend. I am EXTREMELY conservative with my OS, and thinking if i would install it or not. I have been looking at some of the reviews on Youtube but after like 6-8 that sucked i gave up that. So i turned to you... So, if anyone of you have Ubuntu tell your thought about it and convince me of installing it. I use Windows Vista at the moment and I like it, but is Ubuntu better or worse that is the question i ask you dear Escapists.

You have the Live CD, why not just try it yourself? You don't have to install it, just boot from the disc and run the OS from the disc.

I've used it a bit. It's nice, just don't expect to be gaming on it. Or to use iTunes (Only really relevant if you have an iPhone/iPod/iTouch)

It depends on what you use your computer for.

If its gaming then don't bother Ubuntu is a tempermental shit at times and its generally a pain in the ass when it comes to gaming. Whats worse is i theres a hardware issue it doesnt give you errors relating to any failures.

Example: My sister in law's wireless card in her laptop died. No error at all indicating there was a failure, took 3 hours of checking drivers/settings/router and 3 different cables to realise the card was dead.

EDIT:

However for things like internet browsing and general office type work its not actually that bad. I have it on my laptop that i use for general typing and net surfing and its quite nifty =) (course its the netbook version)
