Hello all, well tonight I decided to partition my laptop and try out Ubuntu 9.10. All installed fine. But I have no clue as to go about setting up a connection to my wireless connection... Currently connected successfully using my Ethernet cable.

Anyone out there got anything to help me out?

Here [http://www.uktsupport.co.uk/advent/laptop/5431.htm] are the details to my laptop.

Thanks in advance!

have you restarted the wireless card? the page does say it has to be done each time it's restarted, which is REALLY stupid

anyway do you have access to the net from there? if so could you do this

dmesg > hardware.txt

then post the results. if you can't access the net copy it to your widows partition or something that allows you to copy it between the to partitions

at the best you will just have to modprobe it, at the worst you're going to have to recompile the kernel. tho everyone should do the second one because it's just all around better

Hmmm.... use Windows instead?
:p

I have no idea, I tried Ubuntu for a couple of days, and decided I hated it.
This is just a bump, maybe someone else can help you. :)

I'll try that as soon as I get back home and let you know the results. Thanks! :)

I've done extensive research and can't find any working solutions. :/

I don't know how it doesn't work. I haven't found anyone [http://www.eukhost.com/forums/f15/have-realtek-rtl8187se-wireless-ubuntu-will-work-7093/] with a similar problem. Even my typically problematic Intel wireless card works out of the box with Ubuntu 9.10. My best guess is that the wireless card isn't enabled while Ubuntu is booting, as it needs to be turned on every time you start your computer, and therefore isn't caught as active hardware.
