Ugh, one hour until I leave on the bus to start the process of the US Navy's bootcamp. Can't lie and say i'm ready for it, so hoping for time to slow down but alas its speeding along like it has a grudge against me.

Anyone have a similar experience?

Thanks for the kind words everyone, its a family tradition to go into the Navy, but oddly enough in this current generation of kids I'm the only to serve my country. As a result entire family got a spotlight on me.

I remember the feeling of getting up the morning when I left for the Army. It was a very special feeling to say the least, but once I got on the bus and left my hometown for the regiment, it felt better.
You can't be ready for it, just don't let it get to you. Good luck.

Good luck mate, I'm hoping to join the RAF Regiment in a few years.

RAf Regiment Para-sniper is my goal...and surprisingly also a realistic one.

A Para-sniper? Does that mean you snipe people from the sky? H4X0rZ!

OT: Yeah I've had moments like that, mostly with exams and such.

Anyways, good luck to you mate :)

An RAF paratrooper-sniper? Bloody hell that sounds awesome. Well, good luck with that.

To the OP, wish you all the best, your making your family proud. How many years do you plan to serve in the navy?

Good luck man, I'm still waiting for my weekend drill so I can see if I go to boot camp this upcoming monday. I'm not really nervous about it but I'm just anxious to get it over with.

Yep, when I went to my own military training. I had until 6pm that day to report in.

I didn't want to wait too long and angst about it, so I reported in at 2 pm. More time to set up my gear to the ridiculously small closet, to que for lieutenants interview etc. And of course, get to know my 11 roommates a bit better.

Waiting is the worst part of it all. And boy does military have a lot of hurrying up somewhere, then waiting, when again hurrying somewhere else... It's like constant, drawn-out interval training: rest, max performance, rest, max performance....

Haha not quite, means me and a a spotter would jump out a C-130, parachute down into a hostile zone to either spot targets and threats for any Air suport, Take out a specific target, or support with covering fire for an assault.

I still don't trust myself to not say to the pilot as he's flying : "Do A Barrel Roll!" (damn you your starfox and your un-helpful companions)
