ugghhh the worst offender has to be the big stupid blue Move blob at the top.

they could have at least made the row of logos at the bottom smaller in size.

as a graphic designer, seeing stuff like this sends me in to a murderous rage
Imagine how Olly Moss feels...

"So guys, how did you like the cover?"
"Awesome! Awesome! We did a few minor changes... You know, had to put the logo and such"
"Oh yeah totally. The PS3 "strip" logo up top..."
"...yeah, and such... Hey, look, isn't it awesome!"
"...

That reminds me of this: http://theoatmeal.com/comics/design_hell

Granted that talks about web design, but the message is the same. Good design cocked up by people who most likely don't know shit about design.

I kinda feel like this game should have ended after the second one. Feels like their dragging it out. The box art would've been cool if it's how they presented the series when it first came out, but changing a theme 2 games later seems odd and out of place.

I think we should get rid of those big-ass logo's anyway. When was the last time a pretty book cover was demolished by thousands upon thousands of logo's?

That's right. It never happened.
No, but the stickers can be a problem. As seen on SyFy, for sale, clearance, etc.

What kind of monster are you that you would put stickers on a book without wrapping it in plastic first?!

This could easily be fixed, simply let the cover sleeve be double sided. One side has the standard retail cover with all the logos, while the other side has the cover art without anything stamped on top of it. If after you buy the game you dont like all the logos, simply flip the cover around when you get home and voila, you have a pretty addition to your collection. This is effectively what they do with all anime covers in australia

Thats not true. That sticker Oprah likes to stick on stuff is an immediate cover killer.

OT: i dont know, you cant really not have that stuff, just cause, you know, rules and such. Everyone gets their credit, and unless you want to pay MORE you'd better take the advertisement. Plus pretty much every other cover looks like that too, so,t here's taht.

Those logos should be only on the backside of the box and should also be 50% smaller.
Is it that hard to take the box, turn it around and see some technical facts?

IMO, the front side should be only the art, name of the game and platform. Everything else should be on the backside.

Still better than the god-awful crap they slapped on top of the Uncharted 2 boxart.

The answer? Put the logos on a plastic overcover for the box, like with (the European) Killzone 3 and the Premier Edition of Red Alert 3.

That way the silly logos and age rating arent actually on the boxart. You can even displace the title like this.
That's not the answer. Then the logos are gone for anyone who might want them, plus it screws over used game sellers. You just print the artwork without the logos on the other side of the art insert, and then when people get the game, they can reverse it if they want so the non-logo version is on the outside.

Well, let's see. Since nearly every store won't let you hold the game to even look at the back until after you buy it, yeah, it's pretty hard to turn the box around and read the back.

It's an interesting cover, but I think it's a bit too subtle. To anyone who has no idea what the Resistance franchise does, all they'll see is a skull and maybe a dude walking. I didn't even notice the New York skyline until you pointed it out. It just seems a bit too empty for me, unlike with the ICO cover where it shows that you are part of something much bigger and the empty space is used to show off the detail in the world you'll be traveling in.

As is, it's okay, but I think it's a bit too minimalist. It looks more like a propaganda picture, what with the red n' all. It's really just a skull on a pretty tacky red background. I think maybe that same skull but with some wear and tear, maybe some blood splotches on the teeth and shrapnel on the forehead, with Capelli in there by default, would paint the bigger picture that the Resistance series really tells. Just by glancing at it, anyone new to the series wouldn't know if the guy is a lone survivor or if the aliens are invading New York if they already invaded it or whatever.

Not here where I live.
I take the box, look at it, put it back.

But then again, if companies did print everything on the backside, they would force the stores to let the costumer see the product. Also, isn't it against the law to forbid you to see the product you're buying? It's not like you're going to open it.
