Let's talk about the Ultimate Spider-man TV series.
Right from the start this show is at a disadvantage, as it follows on one of my favourite animated shows ever, the spectacular spider-man. for those of you who don't know it, watch it, it's worth your time. anyway, yesterday I decided to watch all 4 episodes of ultimate spider-man that are currently out.
I cringed. there is a lot wrong with this show,from the voice acting, to the CONSTANT references to the avengers in hopes of selling more tickets for the avengers film, to the really, really forced comedy. but the worst thing is probably spider-man himself, which is pretty major thing. I don't know if it is his boring character, his dull voice actor, or the fact that they decided family guy would be the best inspiration, but making EVERY joke a cutaway gag. it's like anime, except they had no idea what anime was, they just knew it was popular.
I was nervous to begin with, when I saw "spider-man will have to work with four other teenage heroes" in the advert, but they were better than I thought, better than spider-man, I think it's the first time I've seen Iron Fist or Luke Cage in anything animated. but after I sat through all four episodes, something strange happened, I wanted to see more. yes, after all my complaining, this show isn't "bad" per se, it's just gets very stupid at some points.
So the entire reason I made this post is to ask the rest of the world to take a look and tell me their thoughts on the show, for all I know this is better than Batman: the animated series, and I'm too fan raged at spectacular to see.
