How about this one:

A cross between a card game and a fighting game, to give a rough description. The art direction is solid, and gives a good depiction of underground post-apocalyptia. The story is filler, but collecting the skills and playing both online and offline is rewarding. I was pleasantly surprised to see it in the backwards compatibility list for the 360.

It was fairly obscure, and there are still some people playing it. Very fun game, and there were hints at a spiritual sequel, but Majesco went bankrupt I believe.
Simpsons did it! I kid but its on my xbox hard drive. I got it from a certain website

Dude, I fucking remember seeing that game and saying "this looks intriguing, I wanna try it out"

Is it a good game?
It's great, but the ending is hell'a deppressing...

A Japanese game I stumbled upon by emulator a few years back: Joy Mech Fight.

It's a fighting game for the SNES with the same story as Megaman.
I used to play that on emulator a lot years ago. Something about it was really fun. My brother and I would huddle over the keyboard and play against each other.

An obscure favorite of mine is Cubivore, a Gamecube game based on natural selection where you have to mutate and develop cuboid animals over the course of several generations. It's quirky and fun.

Pickle Wars

Behold it's awesomeness.

Seriously I poured hours into that game when I was a kid just for the pure novelty of being able to destroy a race of my most hated vegetable.

Gitaroo Man for the PS2. Quite possibly the hardest rhythm game i've ever played.
They didn't make very many copies of it so its pretty rare, and obscure to I hope.

G-Nome. Based on an RTS, the game featured the ability to pilot a fair 20 or 30 different mechs (Heavy Armored Weapons Chassis, HAWCs). The beauty of it? You actually know where the eject button is (I'm looking at you, MechWarrior) and can use special gas rounds to force your opponent out of their mech. Comedy ensues as a lone warrior fights an Assault class HAWC (large enough to step over a small mountain), gasses out the pilot, and steps on him with his own mech. It was fun, had a decent challenge, stealth missions (when stealth was considered a BAD GENRE), and decent combat. But alas, it was clunky with the tech of that time and video wasn't too good. The developers disbanded and the sequel (i mean, the ending is you refusing to kill ***** [i censored that, plot rules kthx] and the credits are of it walking away.)

I found the game in 1998 in a bargain bin for five bucks. I've met one person through the internet that has heard of the game. THAT is rare.

The first game that came to my mind when thinking of this thread appears to not have been said.

The now dead MMO Seed. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seed_%28computer_game%29

A non-combat MMO. It launched on May 2, 2006 and closed down September 28, 2006.

I beta tested that game.
