From what gameplay is shown, it looks pretty intense But I guess it could go either way yet, would need to see more to pass judgment.

Although my inner 40k nerd is asking why theres a group of 5 or so marines, by themselves, all equipped with like Captain level kit...

Honestly, the gameplay videos I've seen for this game make the combat look awkward and unwieldy. Nice job getting the look of the 40k universe down, though.

I don't really like Space Marines, I'm more of an Ork fan. But if I had to chose, it would be Salamanders.

True, but Ultramarines are a blank slate, and for a game they can be a good choice as they are neither close-combat focused nor ranged weaponry focused; basically, it give the player a bit more choice.

I don't really like Space Marines, I'm more of an Ork fan. But if I had to chose, it would be Salamanders.

Orkses are the bestest, and Salamanders is a much more interesting chapter, they're Ultramarines with a bad case of pyromania. Personally though I would go with Ravenguard, they're what happens when you mix the S.A.S with Space Marines.

It tries to be sufficiently epic, but the look of the characters in extremely oversized armour and the enemies looking equally stupid hurts it a lot.

I think it looks awesome, like a cross between Capcom's Devil kings and Warhammer 40K.

Don't be put off by it being Ultramarines, because it hasn't been finalised exactly which chapter will be featured in the game, they're just using Ultramarines for the sake of the promotional material (after all, they have to show a chapter/colour scheme for the promotional video, so why not the easily identifiable boys in blue).

The trailer is quite ambiguous (there's not unique chapter physical traits on show, like the Space Wolves' beards and fangs) plus it doesn't even say it's the Ultramarines (no chapter name is mentioned).

If it was 100% going to be the Ultramarines, you would have probably heard the phrase "For the Emperor! For Ultramar!" in the trailer. Also, the Blood Ravens are the only chapter Relic is licensed to use in games and create stories with, canon wise.

From what we've seen so far, all it would take is a simple pallet swap and badge change to make it a different chapter, plus the game is called Space Marines, not Ultramarines.

I read the information about the choice of chapter not being decided yet, on either Relic's site, THQ's site or possibly even Eurogamer.

looks like it could be pretty wicked but I would have rather seen space wolfs, I mean if its mostly about close combat why not go with the marines that specilize in it

I think it would be different if it were really [HEADING=2]Ultra[/HEADING]marines.
Blue armor? check. Horned helmet? Maybe check. Ultra? Not yet there.

That trailer was great but no PC release and that leaked footage we saw earlier really turned me off to this game.

but - it looks like the game has really changed too which I like, but I just hope it isn't "hack and slash" and more like the warzones of 40k.
