im sure that most of you have had something spoiled for you right? and its the main reasons that we have things like
but what i want to know is that if any of you have somehow managed to forget about something like that intensionally?
and if you havent been able to do so then talk about how you think you might be able to or things that you'd like to forget

How can you forget about something intentionally?

And no, if I think something is spoiler-worthy, I put it behind the
tags.

The Code Geass ending was spoiled for me, but I decided to watch the show anyway. I enjoyed it that much that I actually forgot the ending, thus making it a surprise when it happened.

Also spoilers don't really bother me much, but they do take the fun out of the surprise, my Code Geass example being the exception of course.

Spoilers don't normally bother me.

Just about every twist has been done before so its not that hard to figure it out.

I had Bioshock ruined for me when I bought the game. I still haven't completed it because I already know what's going to happen. It takes a lot away from everything when you're going through the levels...

Atlas is giving you help and all I'm thinking is, "yeah. You're friendly now but you're going to turn on me you rat bastard.

I really hate spoilers. I usually don't want to know anything about movies beforehand. The text in the back is what I consider as being a spoiler, and I try to avoid those too. I never watch the possible "Coming up on next episode" -bits on any series'. Not to mention the obvious way that you might hear or see something (anything in my case) to be considered as a spoiler, in real life or Internet.

These things do make, defining if something is worth watching or not, a lot more difficult, but I have my ways for that and I do watch plenty of movies and TV series.

If I've been hit by a spoiler, I might wait for a couple of years until I've forgotten those, before watching the movie. Being somewhat absent-minded does help a bit there.

I suppose I'm an anti-spoiler freak in a way. I don't really know other people who hate spoilers just as much as I do.

i remember that was spoiled for me when i went looking through the achievement list and saw the "defeat Atlas" one, and about a few seconds later i figured it out...

Spoilers are useful for a lot of things, though personally, like an idiot, I usually click on them anyway... But some are ones that if you don't already know, you shouldn't be allowed on the internet until you know them. These are the obvious ones like:

- Vader's his father!
- Trinity dies! Twice!
- Rosebud was his sled!
- Snape killed Dumbledore!
- Soylent Green is people!

And so on...

If the stories well told, you can know it backwards and still be knocked over by it, which is why I liked Avatar so much. Cliche, but it's great!

This (although, Avatar? Really? :/)

I was spoiled for Knights of the Old Republic, and the twist still blew me away; in some cases that makes it more fun, because you can keep an eye out for the cracks and clues earlier in the story.

I actually feel quite similar. I find that there's only a handful of stories that I'm glad were surprising or probably wouldn't be the same with prior knowledge. Otherwise, yeah, I find just knowing things, even just twists, is nowhere the same as seeing them pan out.

There's also those implied-but-never-started twists, and given what I've been watching lately I'll use "the Peter Bishop origin-thing" as an example, which can be neat to know beforehand and watch to see when/where hints are dropped (as sometimes very subtle ones are everywhere, or missable).

Yep, Avatar. My film of 2009, and one of the best ways to end a decade I've ever seen.

Perhaps the most entertained I've been by anything since I was 11.
What did you see when you were eleven?

I dunno, Avatar was entertaining enough (it was certainly very pretty), but I get awful twitchy when people play the noble savage and Mighty Whitey tropes straight.

I dunno, just saw brain dead/dead alive for the first time yesterday knowing that that guy kicked ass for the lord and it didn't ruin it for me at all.

Usually I just get pissed off when someone tells me there's a twist in the plot, then I spend the whole movie/game/book looking for suspicious things. People officially spoiled Saw, Usual Suspects and Identity for me by pointing out that there was in fact a twist in each movie.

I don't mind too much if a story is spoiled for me. It probably kills the experience a little for me, but it's not all bad. I usually spend time spoiling myself anyway.
