This video has done a better job than reviews to make me want to play the game. Maybe I should watch Let's Plays and so on after all.

Is it just RNG that made Yahtzee not die? It seems odd to me that the Xenomorph didn't kill him (unless they can only kill from behind because duh).
While there is some luck to it the reason it just slapped Yahtzee was that he sprayed it with his flamethrower before it jumped him, this makes the alien panic abit and just run you over instead of finishing you. If the alien gets you in any other situation you are dead. Always.

Other than that Yahtzee just kept better track of it with his motion tracker, so he had time to react instead of getting jumped from behind like Jim, it can also however hide in vents both in the ceiling and in the walls, if you pass these it jumps out and kills you.

AAAH. Oh god. This game looks brilliant and no, no, I cannot buy it. Guys, I actually screamed out loud (a small scream! perhaps even a squeak!) at the end where Jim was lurking under the desk and he turned and the xeno was there. Perversely, I feel like I should buy it to reward these devs, but no. No playing. Perhaps Lets Plays during the day when my pathetic squeaks of terror will blend in with the sounds of neighborhood children at delightful play. (Outside even, I don't know what the kids around here are being fed, it's so wholesome and last century. I mean they still draw dicks on the sidewalks with chalk, but that's a constant across all platforms.)

Jim might have gotten used to hearing the alien during his review play, and avoiding the motion tracker (the alien can get attracted to its beeps.
That was a fun video, I didn't think I'd ever hear Yahtzee sounnd that unnerved.
The Alien Can Get Attracted To Its Beeps!?! I'm Out! Done! Not Going Back, Can't Make Me!

Gameplay-wise it's understandable why they made the xenomorph walk upright and make a lot of noise. It gives the player more information to act on to reduce frustration, as well as making the xenomorph really scary. I would probably have preferred a game where they made the AI less rubber-bandy and had it utilize the scenery more to blend in, to really mess with the mind of the player, but that would also mean risking a full play-through where you barely ever encounter it.
You know, I almost think that a full play through where you barely actually meet it, but always know it's there, would be bloody interesting. It would pump up the psych-horror aspect of the game. Of course, I haven't played the game personally so I don't know if that would ruin other aspects of it, but it sounds like a neat idea.

Nice call back to Jim's Movie Defense of Alien 3. The odd thing is that its the one movie David Fincher directed that he totally hated, and the stories of all the behind-the-scenes shenanigans sound way more interesting than the story in the movie itself. But no mention of Resurrection?

"xenomorph body pillows" To google or not to google... *googles* They don't exist.

Rogue Legacy. Whoever can get the most gold in a single run with no upgrades.
Given the not-at-all subtle imagery of the whole franchise, I'm quite scared of Googling what other official/unofficial paraphernalia it has. And not just because I'm at work now.

How come Yahtzee isn't an Alien nerd!? Didn't know they can see pretty damn well, didn't get the "I won't lie to you about your chances" quote. I am disappoint!
That said, damn good challenge, highly entertaining, chaps!
To me, he seemed to know a lot about the franchise in his reviews of their games. Watch his videos for AvP (the most recent one, not a retro-review) and Aliens:Colonial Marines. Or watch them anyway, because they're really funny.

This game is absolutely terrifying. It's quite a joy to play.

On a side note, after watching Jim's defense of Alien 3 I went and watched the extended version of the movie, and I think he's right. If you can get past the deaths of Hicks and Newt and some of the movie's other flaws (It's not very scary, ugly and repetitive set design) it's a fantastic movie. Fox completely butchered Fincher's cut. Don't watch the original theatrical cut that they released. Watch the extended version.
Indeed. The director's cut follows the book (which is actually pretty good) and fleshes it out quite nicely.

Damn, son... I did not expect Jim loosing this one... and I'm mostly on #TeamYahtzee...

Regardless, this was a pretty tense match on my end... Those "slaps" really put me on edge a bit...

Yahtzee doesn't seem to be a movie buff, he's probably more into books and videogames.

Jim got beat playing the Alien game.

That doesn't bode well, if you're Team Sterling.
Well it is partly a stealth game, Yahtzee is pretty good at them.

Worse yet, Yahtzee got two fat joke in one episode. I hope that doesn't weigh too heavily on Jim.

Yes, but the range of that beep to be heard is quite short (and on easy basically non-existant)

Aliens are terrible hide and seek players. They never want to hide for long. I'm guessing if you just sat back in the starting room and hoped for the other guy to mess up, it would eventually get bored and come find you.

Well done, private Croshaw. Guess it's down to the deciding best of 15 next time, though I hope you continue past 15, maybe eventually having an episode with other Escapist staff on board so you can humiliate them. Hoping for either Gauntlet or some kind of GTA challenge in the future.

Alright, that was proper pants-wetting terror plus funny commentary. In short, gold.

I feel like since there's a magic ten victories that the case of a 9-to-9 tie-off needs to be something special. Anyone have any ideas?
