Circle the thumbsticks and flick all the triggers simultaneously OR I try to push the left thumbstick up and right thumbstick down and push down R1/R2 then switch to right thumbstick up and left thumbstick down and push down L1/L2. For some reason I pretend I am driving a mech or something and this is how I take steps. I have no idea why I started doing that last one but it kills 30 secs. Which of these I do depends on the game.

On my 360 controller I fiddle with/remove the battery pack and charger cable.

On my keyboard I flick open and closed the stand thing on the back left under the escape key. Now its really loose and doesn't work while the right one wont budge without force.

When I'm playing Fallout 3 or New Vegas I press the four buttons on the PS3 remote (you know, Triangle, Square, Circle and X) in synch with the reticule the spins during loading sequences. In Bioshock I rapidly tap through the slides as quickly as I can.

I treat the like loading screen minigames >.>

The equivalent of the L or R/L1 R1 keys. Annoying if I ever play Leaf Green.

I don't play many console games but on my mouse my hand is constantly moving down so I end up fruitlessly mashing the back end of the mouse wondering why nothing is happening...

I sometimes catch my hands jerking backwards to simulate recoil when I fire a rocket launcher.

I also like to replace batteries on my 360 controller like I'm reloading a rifle or shotgun.

I press all the bounds on the 360 controller during loading screens. I also turn the controller like a steering wheel during driving games, as if it will help.

Uh, with controllers I sometimes get the habit of "pushing" the cable in (if it's wired). I dunno how I got this habit, I think I tripped over a controller or something once and I was worried I tugged the wire out so I started pushing it back into the controller just in case.

With PC games, I'll mess with the scroll wheel, or make figure eights.

Flick the thumbsticks up and down to the beat of a song while bobbing my head. Then when the game starts I sometimes say the line I was on without noticing. So someone might see me sitting in front of the TV, controller in hand, tapping out "Empire state of mind" on the controller thn suddenly "NEW YOOOOORK! CONCRETE JUNGLE WHERE DREAMS ARE MADE OF! something somethin..." *back to quiet time.

I twist the thumbsticks. Not twirl them around, I actually grab the top and twist them. They never move, but it occupies me.
nipple fetish?

jk

OT: if its on the computer i spam my mouse around in fast little seizure like motions, idk what it is but if i dont i feel like the mouse is slow and isn't going to respond to what im doing.

with a controller, i usually test out each button just to see if any of them are sticky or if any of the sticks are loose/tight

If I start thinking of a game, my fingers start moving.

MVC3 on my mind? square-tri-forward-circle-circle-circle-circle-circle-circle-X! Or various moves for Dante.

minecraft? I start clicking my index finger.

It just goes on and on...-_-

Also, when I filmed myself for a sonic 3 speedrun (for a contest on a site), I noticed that I made a bizzare motion that took my right hand off the controller every time I let go of a spindash. 0_o

Out of all my controllers, I use my gamecube one the most, so I find myself messing with the control and c-stick with my thumbs. Or I tap my ring and pinky fingers against the back of the controller to the rhythm of whatever song I'm listening to.

On a keyboard, my fingers start creeping on WASD no matter what I'm doing.

Though sometimes when I'm waiting for something to load, or a cutscene, I practice button combos, like my swordsmanship moves in Zelda, or my special jumps in Mario.

Jesus, I have a fair few of these:

Holding the wire of my headset against the controller with my left hand.
Rolling both analog sticks, left anticlockwise, right clockwise, in unison repeatedly while waiting.
Quickly and repeatedly tapping the triggers.
Quickly and repeatedly pushing in both analog sticks.

I swear I'll break the thing well before it's due to die on me...

It's not really unconscious, but I might roll the d-pad sometimes before a match starts when I'm playing fighting games. It's more for my fingers than anything. I run through my combos and special moves and all that crap so I don't forget I have them when I need them.
