Underrated bands or artists.

Bright Eyes are underrated too.

You need to go to a liberal college campus or any given high school to really understand how untrue this statement is.

Bright Eyes is like crack with all the indie underground hipster kids.

Edit: Japanther is pretty sweet though, I must agree.

Well the high school I went to, which mind you was attended by 2000 kids, I only knew three other people who had actually heard of them (I went to the concert with one of them), but the concert was absolutely packed, so that says something too.

EDIT: Also that's more from personal experience. I think it's like my experience with the underrated-ness of the Black Keys. People who I know who listen to a lot of indie music love them, but everyone I know who doesn't has absolutely no idea who they are. Same with Bright Eyes.

I'm glad you enjoy Japanther. They're a band I tell all my friends about. Them and Tom Vek are two acts I try to tell everyone I know about.

Everyone's (even my mom) been all over the Keys since their album was named #2 of 2010 by Rolling Stone, just below Kanye. I dig what you listen to though, you seem like you've got pretty sweet taste.

If you prefer rap then Hopsin is by far the greatest underground rapper I have heard in years. Many compare his style to Eminem.


Cold is also worth a look, they are extremely underrated. They are one of my favorites because of how deep they can be.

As in every thread simular to this one I will post about Overkill.
They were one of the very first thrash metal bands but didn't get as much attention as the other bands that popped up during the time. It's a shame, because imo they are the best thrash band out there and after over 30 years they still play awesome thrash.
They deserved to be one of the big four more than any of the ones who got the title.

I do love Overkill, but I think they should just be put into the Big 4 as the 5th and it becomes the Big 5 instead of replacing one of the other ones.

OT: Well Primus is a great band known to by many people, but they still get pretty low coverage.

I found out about both of these bands through Pandora. More bands need female vocalists (not talking about Sevendust, obviously).

I don't blame you for thinking that A Skylit Drive has a female vocalist, but A Skylit Drive has always had a male vocalist [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Skylit_Drive]

Warpaint are amazing, but not very well know, which is a shame because they are one of the best all female bands in recent years. Their unique sound has left a huge impression on me, and i consider them to be a very inspiring, very confident, and a very talented group of women. Which should be cherished in a day and age of increasing sex appeal in female music.


Also, here's another one from the earlier EP, when they did have a male drummer in the band.


I see them getting really big in the future, and playing in Glastonbury this year has more than likely cemented their success in the years to come.

(I also saw them last week, and they were incredible.)

They're pretty good, but I hate to burst you're bubble there are plenty of other all girl bands with similar sounds like the Vivian Girls and Dum Dum Girls. Who knows maybe you'll like those bands too I think you should give them a listen.

OT: As for the band I'm picking to present in this topic I give you guys Beach House. They basically make the most emotional music I've ever heard with what amounts to a Casio Keyboard, a drum machine, a guitar, and the beautiful vocals of Victoria Legrand.

I do live in the US but everyone I seem to know, again just personal experience, just seems to listen to Top 40 stuff. These were the same people who put statuses like "who the hell are Arcade Fire? Eminem should have won". Also mash-up and dubstep have become extremely popular in my school.

Maybe I should move to another high school.

In my opinion they do sound rather similar (especially the Vivian girls) but they do sound different to me somewhat. Maybe it's just me, but I do hate comparing bands to others.
