The Backburner in TF2, I'd say. It takes a little bit more skill to use properly than the regular flamethrower, and you can't deflect rockets when it needs done, but it's a great weapon as long as you know what you're doing.
I'm going to have to call you out here. The backburner is underrated because it's an inferior weapon. Maybe it was SOMEWHAT viable back in the days where the flamethrower didn't do as much damage and the crits could be useful, but the flamethrower's damage these days is deadly enough. Really, it takes less skill to use overall because you're robbing yourself of the high-skill functionality of the airblast. Even in the niche situations that you'd think the backburner would come out on top, it doesn't.
For instance, the enemy is pushing the cart towards the final point. You sneak up behind them. Sure, you can get some crits, kill them a tiny bit faster. The thing is, it isn't about the kills. Fire and some airblasts will clear the enemies off the cart, stopping it from moving. Your allies don't have the obstruction of the cart when trying to take down your opponents. Plus the normal flamethrower is deadly enough as is.
Sure, it might make you come out on top once or twice, but realistically, it's an inferior weapon, far too niche to be of any practical use.
