This sort of situation is best explained by an example. I just finished playing some of Starcraft 2's campaign. For those of you that know Raynor, I was playing one of the last missions where you have to blow up lava fissures in order to wipe out some Nydus worms. In the latter half of that mission, whilst running away from some rising lava, I selected Raynor. He said:

"What's the plan?"

I replied jokingly "Run away from the lava" move-clicking him down the corridor, to which he replied

"Sounds like a good plan"

It was a completely out of the blue 4th wall break that had me stunned. I honestly had to stop playing I laughed so hard

So my example now being explained, have any of you experienced a similar such situation yourselves? Where did the 4th Wall break unexpectedly for you?

There was this Deadpool comic that caught me off guard. Which is impressive, since Deadpool breaks the fourth wall so frequently. Deapool's a guy who heals, like Wolverine, but he's an above average man, basically. He got hit in the face by a mystic crowbar imbued with the power of Thor. The next panel is pulled back a little, showing you the borders of the last panel within this new panel. The panel after that goes to the reader, cringing in pain, before his mom yells at him to come to dinner and he yells back that it's new comic day so he'll be a minute.

The first time I played MGS1, after leaving the bathroom with Meryl (that, sounded better in my head...), she wonders about the guards being gone which didn't surprise me because I'd killed them. Then Snake mentioned the music was gone. I was like "...He can hear the game's music...?" Then of course Mantis tells me to put my controller down and I'm like "...Ok, where's the fourth wall?"
