So this morning I was looking for intel on a pc building related subject and replied to one of the threads I was reading without thinking this afternoon I get a warning letter scared and confused I open it turns out you get warnings for posting in old threads yes turns out that during my searching I had accidentally posted in a thread from ..wait for it.. July last year...last year? Really I mean 2009 I'd get 2013 sure but one year? the info in the topic was still valid I wasn't trolling or taunting at worst someone may receive there own confusing letter saying I replied to a message they do not recall sending.

So escapists what is the most unexpected or weird scolding you have received either in these forums or another medium

Never received a warning that surprised me once I looked at what I got warned for here. Though I only have the one warning, that I can remember, and I did deserve it.

Also as per the code of conduct, posting in a thread that hasn't had a response in over a month is considered necroing the thread, which is a warn-able offense. Edit: To revive an old thread requires moderator approval also.

Got one ages ago, a suspension for one day because I said something about people linking being a brony with being gay, which was presumably interpreted as me linking those to insult both groups.

Why the heck were you searching for threads to post in? All you're gonna get is old threads.

I don't understand how a warning can be "expected", since every reasonable user never tries to get them, no?

I kinda get your wanring, to be honest. If nobody's psoted in a thread for an entire year, it's clearly ready to be put to rest six feet under.

Me, I got a warning for posting my lovable catchphrase "One word: Batman" as a reply and not adding anything else.

Well you'll likely get a unexpected lock (or is it now expected since I said something?) since discussing Mod action is against the CoC...

As for unexpected warnings, I've never gotten one (a warning that is). I had a thread get locked overnight because Gamergate got moved to R&P (it was my "should GG get their own section so that OT stops drowning?" thread), which I was disappointed about but that thread was winding down anyway so it wasn't a major deal to me.

I got a warning for posting in my own thread once. It wasn't a shameless bump. I actually added something. I got a warning. I wrote a message to dispute it. I didn't get a reply. So i avoid mods like the plague now.

Calling someone a dolt.

Didn't expect that one. Especially since I've made rather far more unfriendly posts in the past repeatedly with never any comment. Then again, all those were passive aggressive implications which seems to be encouraged on these forums here.

Well, the past 5 warnings I've received on this forum have been reversed, so, not much really surprises me any more in regards to those.

Beyond that, I don't really make a habit of getting warnings of banned from places.

Sorry guys, I know you all hate me locking threads preemptively but I can foresee this turning into a rant thread about getting warnings from this site.

If you want to refute a warning please use the link in the message you receive, or send a ticket via the Contact [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/contact/] slip. Replies are usually sent via the email you used to sign up for an account, please check your spam folder. Etc etc mod stuff you've all heard before but I gotta post in case you haven't.
