Unexpected Surprises

Right so...

Christmas is past and we're still in the holidays and my grandma drops a bombshell on us this afternoon.

As it turns out she has breast cancer (which luckily is still in the early stages). We took to it well as she's had some pretty bad medical problems before and it's just something that sort of happens in the family anyway.

don't get me wrong it still sucks.

but I just wondering if anyone got any unexpected news bad, good or otherwise this holiday season.

my father and I had our dog taken away the day before Christmas. animal control picked him up because he ran to the end of our driveway when they drove up. my father had to surrender him to the humane society because he cant afford the 200.00 fine. kind of ruined our Christmas.

Hm, in the middle of night this summer, I found out that my grandpa died. Found out through my dad coming into my room crying.

And a few months ago, I got the news that my parents are getting a divorce, and that my dad is seeing someone else. Although I kind of saw it coming, just not so quickly. 'Tis been a pretty shitty year. I deem 2009 "Worst Year Ever".

Also, my condolences to you and your family.

A family friend died a week before Christmas.

It didn't upset me too much but it rocked my mom pretty hard.

well the thing is the way the kids in our family were brought up we know the degree of severity in these sorts of things but we just try to keep ourselves from worrying too much about it.

I've been through some pretty shitty things (death of some pretty close friends, abuse etc) but it's like we were told, just take it with a grain a salt, there isn't much you can do about it anyway except hope for the best.

A month ago, a uncle and nephew of mine got into a pretty bad car-crash.
They're alive, stable and currently in therapy but still, that was NOT a fun afternoon.

I found out an old close friend of mine's dad has some inoperable tumor.
It really sucks since his dad is actually really cool.

man that sucks. The reminded me of a guy I knew since I was a kid who recently found out he had some sort of cancer of the adrenal gland or something and it's got a high mortality rate.

news came back though that he should be fine so it's kool.

I found out that my brother is a trans-gender. I didn't expect him, of all people, to be one. I don't really mind though, it's just that it was really unexpected.
