DOOM.

I know what you're thinking. "How could anyone expect that to be good?" But the issue is that I wasn't expecting it to be good, or even decent. I wanted a bad movie that would be fun to watch and laugh at with a few others, and instead it was just a below average horror/action movie.

There was that one scene, though...

I would say Hancock was a pretty big slap to the face. Everyone aside from Will Smith was completely awful, especially Theron and that feeble crap-smear of a villain. I also hated when the tone of the film up and changed halfway through, I duly wish they would have stuck to the blues soundtrack they used in the first half.

The other big recent disappointment was Death Proof from Grind house, In my opinion Q. Tarantino's worst film. Dragging plot, bland dialog, and a climax that devolves into an insipid feminine empowerment fantasy. I am in no way sexist, but for crapssake, Kurt Russel doesn't turn chickenshit from a little flesh wound!

I really wanted to like Eragon. It should have been awesome. But, they hired bad actors, rushed through the storyline at breakneck speed, skipped over several important elements, and ended the film on a rather sloppy note. The one good actor in the film got killed off about Halfway through it.

The new Bond, Daniel Craig. It's just the same like any other action film...

Where's the gentleman? The gadgets? The Bond-girls? Also, I think it was the first film to not end with Bond seducing the female main role.
We had 40 years of that.

Its about time we got a more sincere character, one whose aware that he's not actually a gentleman (I'd be hard pressed to describe any of the incarnations as such).

He still has the suits, the cars, the women, the smarts and the charm, just the world that surrounds him is more sober, and so reacts to him more fiercely. All through Casino Royale he's getting fucked the hell up, sweating during fights and having to choke guys to death whilst their legs struggle.

How is that like any other action film? Yes, its similar to Bourne in some regards, but its not the same by any stretch.

Quantum of Solace moved in that direction more with its actual action scenes, in that he's not nearly as beat-up, and you don't really feel the punches, but there's still more to the character.
Agreed, the new bond films are better than 75% of all action films, and still better than most of the new ones.

I'd actually consider Casino Royale to be an unexpectedly awesome film. It certainly kicked the shit out of the awful Die Another Day.

Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace did more for Bond's character than any of the previous Bond films combined. Making them intelligent, visceral, emotionally invested and utterly more enjoyable to watch than previous incarnations of the character, of which I think Daniel Craig has done a tremendous job by becoming my new favourite Bond. I'm eagerly awaiting the next installment.

The Golden Compass still sticks out in my mind for shear volume of wasted potential.
This. Much better books than any other childrens/teen/adult series, including Harry Potter. Much worse film than Potter and a few contemporaries. Such a shame the studio wimped out with the more adult aspects of the book and effectively neutered the story.

Every bond film I saw after Goldfinger. I saw the previously mentioned film first because my uncle told me it was the best. I loved it. I loved the over the top villians. I loved the cool action scenes. I loved bonds personality. I loved the plot that was mixture of realism and sillyness like the rest of the film. Then I saw From Russia with Love and two other bond films I can't think of the names of and I wasn't able to finish any of them and I am pretty sure my reaction would be the same with the rest.

Transformers 2, I was expecting something that was on par or greater then the first one. But what I got was a film that focused more on explosions (Yes, it is a Michael Bay film) and a tremendous amount of "Robot Gore".

I loved the Eragon movie when i first saw it.

Then i read the books.

Now it pains me thinking about how badly the story is screwed up in the movie...

This as well, I can't believe they renamed it :S ITS NOT A COMPASS ITS AN ALETHIOMETER AND I DON'T CARE IF IT LOOKS LIKE ONE

EDIT:This isn't the only gripe I had about it but the rest is standard affair stuff when you convert a book to a film -.-
THey renamed it? I read the book and the title of the book is The Golden Compass... I think i'm missing something, did they stop calling it the alethiometer inside the movie and only refer to it as the Golden Compass?
its called Northern Lights, in the UK at least, don't know about anywhere else
