The greater good? Do you know how many horrible atrocities have been committed for "the greater good?" Stalin killed millions, MILLIONS! to centralize farming and industry or just because they were going against "the greater good." China, during the communist revolution, lost millions of people to famine, plague, and execution because they stood in the way of "the greater good." Hitler killed millions, tortured more because they were different and therefore a hurdle to be crossed to get to "the greater good."

The phrase "the greater good" is what psychopaths use when trying to justify genocide. Reread your last post. You are suggesting we kill thousands, if not hundreds of thousands or millions, to do what? End war? Evolve? Fulfill some sick fantasy of death and anarchy washing over the world like some putrid tide?

Humans will never be at peace with each other. We will always want what we don't have, take what isn't ours, and destroy those in our way. Your idea of ending war will not happen, it will merely weaken, or worse exterminate, us. Sure, during the fighting we might not be waging war against unspecifiedistan but as soon as we are in the clear, it starts back up. Ever hear of the war to end all wars?

P.S. The driving forces that keep me going are honor, duty, and selflessness. The honor to protect my friends, family, and country; the duty of upholding the oaths I recite; and the selflessness to sacrifice everything if need be.

I can hear what you are saying Kiltman, I also know your in the military. I have always respected the brave men and women who fight for protection. You are also a man of science and logic. I am not a Tyrant or a relgious nut, but I believe that humanity could accomplish so much if they just stopped fight and started working together. But I do know that as long as people have free will and thoughts then we will always argue and fight... much like now.
I know that something will happen one day to test humanity. I can only hope that it's something like zombies and not something far worst. We could have a chance agaist such an evil force as to alot of other options.

I will admit that a few days ago I didn't think it far enough. But after reading what the most likely outcome towards zombie world domnation or even think about it. Try imagining a world that you come back to. Many spieces are now wiped off Earth. Corpses filled almost everywhere. No human or zombie is left. There are only you and 100 or so humans left.

When I pictured that I almost had a heart attack. I saw it so vivdily like I was really there. It hit me that this will be the future if we continue fighting each other. So maybe there might be a slight chance something big enough but no more then a few thousand just might make with any hope change that.

It's not that I hope for it anymore I just know something like that or worst will happen and can only hope that we change in time to survive

This will be my last post here and if you want to take it up more with me then contact me.

Summary: A living creature requires the functions a Zombie in turn can't produce. But if there is a virus that could create a Zombie, It wouldn't restart life it can only alter it. The dead can't come back but the very recently deceased may reanimate after the cells have been altered much like the T Virus.

It's to be certain or not Zombies(The Living Dead) could exist because we humans do not know much about the brain. What dictates that Outbreaks could have if not already. Documents from the past are hard to preserve.

Humans, each and every one, are intitled their own opinon. Since no cases have been reported of a man attacking another because of Zombie paranoia or a man claiming to have fought off zombies, there are no reason why we shouldn't believe or not believe in Zombies.

Humanity can face things far worst then Zombies. But in the end, Man's greatest down fall is what makes him human. Stubbornest, Paranoia, Ignorence, Fear, and much more.

Are Zombies possible: No one can be 100% sure either way.
Should we prepare: That is up to each different person.
Have there been Outbreaks: Possiblly, but there's little scientific proof suggesting it.
Until someone either finds a virus or creates one, A major scale outbreak happens or someone can scientifically disprove it 100%, we just won't know.
Finally, In the first incident posted I have decided that it wasn't a zombie but also it was something big scale enough to get specially trained persons and helicopters in but something the goverment wanted hushed up.

For the virus, we are now in the extremely liberal definitions of zombie. Basically, and correct me if I am interpreting this wrong, any sick person that walks with a limp, is apparently dumber than a sack of door knobs(or unable to articulate), and is violent is what we are now defining zombie? This could easily be a mute war veteran with a peg leg who greats all his guests by biting them on the face;)
Well I have to agree with you that the definition of a Zombie is becoming a little fluid, but I always thought there were 2 main traits that defined a "Zombie"

1. The person in question must have an all consuming NEED to eat the flesh, brains, etc. of other humans, animals, whatever.

2. People, animals, etc. biten by this person will show similer symptoms as the person in question within a set time period (24 hours) eventually becoming "Zombified"

Other qualities such as speed, inteligence and reason for feeding change depending on what type of Zombie your talking about.

I also want to note that I know that Zombies are not quite as "real" and horrifing as say The Black Death [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Death] or Ebola Virus [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ebola_virus] (A very horrible virus I didn't want to believe actualy existed) but Zombies are much more intresting (and easier to stop), in my opinion.
