What was the point of saying "but his schoolmates wouldn't know that." and then the next 3 words doing a 360? If you had lead up to that statement, it would have flowed but it seemed kinda flow-breaking instead.
It was powered by the same influences that make people think a 360 makes you face the opposite direction. Years of one of the worst troll jokes ever written have slowly trained you to think a 360 is the new 180.

VGOs in the workplace........
*Hey Bob you want to go snag lunch......... Oh Wait.*

Honestly though that is great. I love how we have come to an age where no-one of any condition is denied a chance at education. More so we are bordering on what is a robotic body to get it done.
These advancements amaze me in every way.

Yet I still can't get VPN access for work.

Hm...what was the title of the movie where everyone used an cyborg avatar instead of his real "self" for like everything? And the real persons were inside a tube in their homes? It really sucked, but this reminds me of it. And I'm actually jealous of this kid's VGO. But since he has such a fucked up disease i guess it's only fair he got some cool stuff too...

Human beings are monsters.
That's merely your perception. Never confuse that with fact.
Oh that's good. I thought the Inquisitions, Holocausts, Crusades, Ethnic cleansing in Dubai, People who suffocate thier children because they won't stop crying, Ignorant gang-bangers shooting each other over trash talk, and years of hatred leveled at homosexuals, varied ethnicities, and people who don't worship the same god you do we're things that really happened. But since it was all in my mind I feal much better about the world.

Science, bishes! It WORKS!

No, but seriously, this is a great story to hear. It's not going to be quite as good as actually being there, but it's definitely the next best thing. The idea that that kid is going to be able to have real friends is very heartwarming.

Back in third grade, I had this idea while I was sitting in class. A video camera hub with a TV going around so I can stay at home. The only difference was that I wasn't unhealthy, I just didn't like being at school.

It always amazes me what technology can do. But considering modern craftsmanship it'll probably need a 3 year warrenty and a battery life of 6 hours.
Based upon the looks of it; I'd say it'd last a while.

So, because there were are some people who are unable to deal with things properly, you claim that every human that has, does and ever will live is a monster? Generalization, nice.

We are monsters capable of terrible things, the few that rose above it and introduced the ethics that molded societies capable of something more are the only thing keeping some of us on the right side of a very thin line. There certainly exist somone capable of bullying that kid, so do me a favor and don't assume no one will, pass off my statement as a figment of my imagination and then throw down on some pot and kettle action by pointing out that I have used a generalization. Not every person needs to succumb to thier monstrous capacity for one person to be cruel to another.

First of all: Perception does not mean imagination. Secondly, I'm sure there are people who would bully that kid, though I highly doubt that there are many and I doubt that they attend his school.

Oh, and I won't throw down "pot and kettle actions" pointing out your generalizations if you don't do the same with your "Humans are monsters" bullshit either. Have a nice day! ;)

love it! three cheers for science!

although this is something we need be aware of, we don't want to do a Wall-E and have computers leading everyone's lives for them, it's a small step from this to everyone on earth having one of these things trundling around in their places, next thing you know, they develope independent thought and begin to wonder where and why we fit in this scenario

be wary mankind...

This was a Japanese movie about 7 years ago and much more interesting with a much better robot.

You missed the entire point of the article. The kid can actually have social interaction outside of his parents now. You should realise this is reality with real people and not actors on a screen.
I'm affraid that I did NOT 'miss the point of the whole article'. I did, however, miss that you were finally accepted into the Net Police from the Academy. Bravo! Sadly, I'll have to register a complaint with your superiors, in that you clearly missed a blatant example of Devil's Advocacy. But, keep up with it all. You'll make a good Net cop one day.
