Extra terrestrial activity is clearly a tangible path of the earths history and people have been claiming "light in the sky for ages" but what really are these objects that people are seeing?.

There are several documented cases floating around but there is never anything to put the matter to rest. Why is that?. Another thing I can't figure out: why, if everyone has a goddamn camera on their cell and a nice 50 gigbillionpixel camera handy, are there no mindblowingly-amazing shots? Always grainy, always out of focus, etc.

Sure there are some documented cases but they make no sense to me either, such as the Battle of LA. If you google the 'Battle of LA', I think that image is one of the best personally. You don't see much but you can make out a shape. But even if we saw a high res photo taken now, how many people would actually think it was genuine?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Los_Angeles
[I can't believe the military fired at it for over an hour and didn't damage it]

Then there are NASA tapes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C9runNgtTb0.

But which of all these tales and everything we see and hear on the internet and media are true?. What are your thoughts on these matters?.

Swamp gas from a weather balloon was trapped in a thermal pocket and reflected the light from Venus. No more questions please.

None of those sources seem very credible, and when it comes to cases such as this you really need some hard evidence which is easily accesible if you're going to make any sort of case at all. So sorry, but I'm not convinced by what I see here.

The reason why UFO's theories won't go away is because it's

a) Unscientific. The lack of physical evidence that can unequivocally prove or disprove most claims of UFO sightings means that there is no way to "let the matter rest". There will always be someone; amateur or professional quoting either documents or tapes saying; "see..that's proof!" but sadly, Science can't prove they don't exist and theorists can't prove they do.

b)Conspiracy theorists. Everyone loves the Roswell incident and Area 51 and government cover-ups. As long as something vaguely smells like a conspiracy there is always someone jumping on the bandwagon giving the whole theory further support. Perhaps one day we may know for certain but today is not that day.

c)Speculative/Open to interpretation. This stems from "unscientific" but because people love to speculate and draw their own conclusions there will always be someone that will come up and say that UFOs as a likely explanation for the unknown. Again, it's possible but without evidence everything is anecdotal.

Personally, I don't know if these things are real or not. As a born skeptic I believe that the majority of these cases are hoaxes. It is possible that these UFOs are in fact of man made design, i.e- secret man-made crafts, deployed by experimental air force departments. I mean look at the SR-71 "Blackbird" and B2 bomber, they were developed in utter secrecy for years and when officials eventually took them out for test runs people would have seen them as UFOs (considering they had unique designs and capabilities and what not).

That's my view anyway.

I am not trying to convince anyone here. I am just as skeptical but I am wondering about the possibility and why it still prevailing well into the 21st century.

People want to believe in something. If it gives them some greater sense of purpose in their life then let them believe it. Some people are just naturally swayed by stories along those lines, or distrust the government for whatever reason and see the idea of UFO's as a convenient way of showing that we're being lied too. Those sorts of things.

Riiiight, those 'top secret NASA tapes' didn't show us anything at all.

Also, why would alien life necesarily (spelling, bleh) need a spacecraft to travel between planets. UFOs are pretty much, a human invention. Real aliens would probably use, projection teleports or might even bend space over to decrease distance, we ust don't know.

I am guessing that a craft of some kind might be needed to pull that off, hence a UFO.

Actually I don't know. I am only a medical student!.

Why is it that nobody outside of America ever sees any UFO's?

Are the ET's interested in the US alone?

Very true, I tend to agree with this.

UFO sightings are a worldwide occurrence and not isolated to the US. http://www.share-international.org/archives/UFOs/ufo-sightings-worldwide.htm]

The RAF have a number of occurances with UFOs. The files were declassified just recently. I'm more inclined to beieve a pilot flying a Meteor is telling the truth when he sees a UFO but can't catch it with his jet engines.
I think they're pretty interesting!
