My favourite RTS of all time is Company of Heroes.
I just love how a single squad in the right place with the right gear can do a serious amount of damage.
The game isn't about how many zerglings you've got vs the other guys zealots, its about positioning and knowing strengths and weaknesses and that sorta thing, even moreso than other strategy games.
My 2nd favourite RTS is Dawn of War, I love how early on there will be small fights over strategic locations, then all sides get their main infantry into the game, then everyone upgrades them, then heavier units get sent out and it goes from scouting and tactics to a huge bloodbath within one match.

I like both big and small, but what never changes is that I hate losing units. I'm a total perfectionist when it comes to gaming, so I always think 'I could have done that without losing that many guys'.

Small unit tactics, especially if I'm part of the unit. I want to lead from the ground, I also tend to get rather annoyed if I start suffering casualties as well.
While I agree that CoH is a great game, give Men of War a try, it's not for everyone but it sounds like it's right up your alley.IBlackKiteI said:

OT: Any, I love huge orchastrated battles, I love small scale conflicts most of all though I love when the flow of battle can be changed by a single well placed squad/platoon/artiliry piece, nothing is more satisfying than winning a battle with a single desicive blow.
