There was a fire at Universal Studios this morning, and although they have duplicates of all the films that were burned, they can never replace the courthouse square set, including the clock tower, from Back to the Future. As most of us are nerdy as all hell, I figured the death of a classic movie set was notable.

Haha. I've been there. I went a few years back. It was pretty amazing. But frankly, I'm not surprised. The pyrotechnics were bound to fail at some point =[

yeah they do keep the sets, they often reuse them as well

the set for the show desperate housewives has been used in a ton of different movies, such as the 'burbs, the munsters, house of a 1000 corpses, it's called colinial street

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colonial_Street

isn't movie magic great?

Losing the sets is kinda sad, but I also heard that one of their film vaults was damaged in that fire and that's what worries me most... I hope we haven't lost any movie prints (or negatives!) from that archive.

A Universal Studios spokesman was quoted as saying that they had duplicates of all films lost in the fire, so no movies have been murdered.

Hoo-fucking-ray. My school's PROM was at Universal Studios, meaning we are prolly being looked at as the culprits. No, I'm dead serious. Our prom was there, May 31. I'm a freshman, so it wasn't me. But still. The name of the school is probably not mentioned, but if you read it and it says like Palos Verdes Peninsula High School, then yeah. That's us.

I suspect an idiot senior got drunk and played with fire.

EDIT: Not mentioned in the 1 place I looked (My High School wasn't mentioned) but it started at 4:30 or some shit in the morning. I suspect someone overstayed their welcome, although CNN says it was workers. I refuse that, CNN is not too accurate to me. Also, if you look on foxnews.com, you can see an angry leader macro.
