Just thought I would start this to see how many of you on the Escapist are currently studying at university.

So just post your course, year of study, where you're studying and also what the most enjoyable part about it is for you.

For me, I am a second year History student at the University of Warwick in the UK and I would say the best thing about university is the freedom in terms of how you spend your free time but also how you learn and formulate your own opinions and methods regarding topics on the course.

It sounds rather dull but there is nothing better than formulating your own conclusions and arguments (void of lecturer influence) regarding certain topics. Also debating these topics with fellow coursemates is particularly stimulating.

Anyhow your turn!

Your post doesn't contain any mention of alcohol, I don't believe you're at uni at all.

I currently go to University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. Though, I am done for summer break.

I don't know what I am going in right now. I just started last year.

I'm a Maths student at the University of Leeds, just finished my second year. Awaiting my exam results, hoping I won't have to pay and do resits, and hopefully moving into my third year in September.

As far as what I enjoy, mainly the whole idea of the freedom I have living up in Leeds. Leeds is such a beautiful city, and so is the rest of Yorkshire (hopped down to Halifax for the day a few weeks ago on the train, before I came home for summer, and it was quite nice there), so much different to the West Midlands, where I'm actually from (which is really just a complete and utter shithole, at the end of the day). I'm heavily involved in the film-making society at the student union too (voted the best student union in the country by the NUS, too :D), becoming Treasurer for next year, that's pretty fun. And acting too, in Theatre Group :D. Overall, I guess it's just the whole experience that's enjoyable, though I guess the experience of being at university is different for everyone individually...

How is it at Aberystwyth? I considered applying there to study History myself.

I graduated last May from the University of Redlands in CA, but I also studied abroad at Royal Holloway, University of London. I got a double major in English Literature and Psychology, and I am currently getting my master's in English Literature. Lots and lots of school.

Personally I love it, I've met wonderful people and had some wonderful times. I'm doing Modern History myself and the lecturers are brilliant. Plus, you've got a great town to go out in and on days like this having a beach is major selling point.

Jesus I sound like a prospectus.

Just graduated, studied International Tourism Management...as a university I'm embarrassed to mention. I got a first though ^_^

I hated the people at my uni, I only had one friend there. But I was there for an education, I didn't pay 3grand a year to make friends.

I'm a junior at college, and I'm currently on an internship in China through my school, studying software design/computer programming.
So yeah, I'm a student.

1st year Computer Science at Surrey. Good course, good uni, good people, good town.

But yeah the best thing about uni is obviously the freedom, living away from home and being able to do whatever you want whenever you want. Lectures aren't compulsory, we choose to go to them which feels damn nice.
Also getting drunk a lot with friends never gets old.

1st year Classical Literature and Civilisations at University of Birmingham (the proper Birmingham in England)

I love the fact that I got to move away from home and become independant. I'm moving into a house with my boyfriend (who I met on my course) and 3 really good friends on Thursday and even boring stuff like sorting out bills and rent seems exciting to me because I'm living as an adult away from home ^_^

Been there done that. After the drunken blur which is year one you realise that you're in it for a degree and cool down.

Besides wouldn't that have been the most obvious thing to say? You can get wasted and do stupid stuff when you're not at uni.

Third year Biotechnology student. It's extremely interesting, but sometimes the memorization can get pretty crazy. My genetics course tests were insane, all essays. Pure recall on topics from cancer, differences in pro/eukaryotes, protein synthesis and targeting.

The best part is the people, the professors and the students.
