I'm going into my second year as a military/diplomatic history major at the University of Calgary. I'm thinking that I might minor in Japanese as well, but it is hard to get into the intro courses.
I don't really know what the best part is...I don't really have any friends or anything so yeah...I just do homework.

Finished my first year as a Digital Media major at the University of Central Florida--but the amount of credits I've come in with have nearly granted me senior status. What I really enjoy about college is how easy my first year has been compared to my high school courses, in addition to my realization that coding really isn't as hard as I thought it would be.

Just finished my second year at university doing Games Design. I don't really know what to make of the course, it's a bit jack-of all trades, except you don't quite make it to the jack stage. I'm on a first though, but the final year makes up 70% of the degree, must... get... FIRST!

Living in a student house qas quite nice, movin in again. I prefered living in the halls of residence, there were 17 of us there, but theres only the 4 of us in a house.

I've been going off and on for while. I'm in no hurry to finish really.
Yeah basically the same here.
High five same here,

I'm gonna start (again cough cough) in September at Roosevelt academy in Middelburg. I love the fact that I can pick (to a certain degree) my own subjects. So I've picked: History, Politics and International law.

anyone here been to oxford/cambridge?
I know one person on here who I think is at Oxbridge or was, but I don't think he's around at the moment. At least, I haven't seen him lately.

I'm just about a Year 13 now, so here comes the whole scrum for universities. I'm probably going to hate that part.

1st year Classical Literature and Civilisations at University of Birmingham (the proper Birmingham in England)
Same here - well, going into 2nd year now so I think we count as that, technically.

I also tried Biochemistry & Biological Chemistry and the University of Nottingham.

I think my favourite thing about university as a whole is the independence compared to having been in work and school. Not that I had much on my science course, bloody 9-5 days 5 days a week (shut in hot labs for 15hrs a week too).

Favourite thing about Birmingham has got to be meeting my girlfriend (hi honey!) and moving into a house with her and some friends. Much better than being stuck in a flat with strangers that I don't really get on with.

Just thought I would start this to see how many of you on the Escapist are currently studying at university.

So just post your course, year of study, where you're studying and also what the most enjoyable part about it is for you.

For me, I am a second year History student at the University of Warwick in the UK and I would say the best thing about university is the freedom in terms of how you spend your free time but also how you learn and formulate your own opinions and methods regarding topics on the course.

It sounds rather dull but there is nothing better than formulating your own conclusions and arguments (void of lecturer influence) regarding certain topics. Also debating these topics with fellow coursemates is particularly stimulating.

Anyhow your turn!
lol im about 3 miles down the road from you!

coventry university, just starting the second year, reading emergency planning and disaster management.

just got my grades for this year the day before yesterday, passed! WOOO!

I want to know how difficult it is to get in, since i might try for it.
Pretty damn difficult. If you don't have all A's I'd only consider apply for it if you really like your second choice. In some subjects you have to get ridiculous grades, usually some you couldn't get without having done five A-levels.

Then again, had a friend who had Oxford and Cambridge fighting over her, so once you hit the jackpot they want you bad, apparently.

unless your either oxford heritage, ridiculously lucky, or you sneeze A**s you can forget it mate.

that said they need to fill a certain number of seats, so if you are doing a really obscure degree you also have a shot. that said the tutition, accomodation and living costs will be literally crippling unless your parents are rolling in it and generous.

They aren't always the best for the courses in question, but obviously their reputation precedes them. They'll look for academic distinction, enthusiasm for the subject (they conduct personal interviews) and, if you've seen personal statements, extra-curricular things you've done that you can say have helped your skills in certain ways (well, I'm not sure how much that ever gets focused on, but personal statements distinguish you from the crowd of faceless applicants - just don't go for humour or - I'd recommend - utterly pretentious quotes).

Just finished up high school (illness kept me from graduating for a few years). And I'm hoping to get into Red River College next year. If I'm lucky, I'll be able to get into the University of Winnipeg.
